They do have sensors and multiple video angles we don't get to see. He most probably makes a slight touch as he falls with in no way gives him an advantage but the rule doesn't account for that.
The whole world's issue with the call is that you can nitpick rules to apply or not in any given case. as far as RM is concerned, they always end up on the good side of the nitpicking.
