Thiago coming back would hurt Samper more than Rafinha, Rafinha can play next to Thiago in a more attacking role but moving Thiago to fit Samper would be a waste of his ability imo. I don't think Thiago will come back though. I just have a feeling he won't, idk.

True and actually when I think about it Mascherano as CB has been playing almost like a super deep dm with his passing recently. I suppose that's the effect of Pep's thinking that midfielders> all and that we should just buy a bunch of them to cover all positions.

Barca's midfield is always a five-man midfield of the midfield three plus Messi and Alves, 4-3-3 hasn't fully described our play since Pep took over.(except at the beginning of this season)

I think the game depends on whether or not Pique shows up, cause he's our rock in defense. And whether or not some combination of Messi/Suarez/Neymar/Iniesta shows up, once atleast two of those play well we should score goals. Or atleast if Messi is at his best we won't lose.

Samper is relevant in the Sergi Roberto thread because his advancement could be a direct impediment to Sergi's future here, if he moves up as a cdm Sergi will have no reason to be here while if he instead plays as a cm then Sergi will still have a brightish future here.

Doesn't look it but he's actually taller than messi, needs to start hitting the gym, has the quick feet and the football IQ but needs to be able to ride challenges with his type fo play or he'll never be able to play in the center.
