Catching up on the rumor mill. So Brunati says first they have reopened negotiations and that Messi's lawyers asked for more time with PSG's proposal and that 'nothing is closed', but then at the same time says he'll travel to Paris and be presented at 10 AM. Okay.
This was not what I thought I'd wake up to. Doesn't this Veronica Brunati have an either really bad or really good track record regarding the Messi camp? If La Porter is the only source then it's just bs.
Anyway, last night, before those rumours, Christian Martin said this:
1424829320338546694...
For Messi there would have been no reason to hide his intention of leaving after last summer. He never made definitive promises during the season. Him wishing to leave would have been no bombshell news, it was always in the cards and fans were prepared and had already forgiven him or even...
And why would they if it was all done and dusted, on Twitter in troll fashion (shirt posing, "you don't need an official announcement blah blah") nonetheless? If it was, they can just sit back and enjoy the rumours until the club officially announces him. To me this is what screamed nothing is...
...and to try to keep other clubs away. Like I wrote yesterday, the Qataris had no reason to pose with his shirt and confirm it's done if it had really already been done, other than to keep other clubs from even trying.
I found his press conference consoling and depressing at the same time. Consoling because of how genuinely he showed his undeniable feelings and love for the club - makes it easier to stomach the Qatari and PSG fans gloating and claiming him as 'theirs', he showed his heart is always gonna be...
The Qataris overdoing themselves with confirmations and upholding shirts actually make me believe his contract there is not as done as dusted as it sounds yet. No incentive for them to do it if it was (other than... trolling on Twitter), as it would be announced properly in a couple of days...
I'm past feeling triggered by images of him in another jersey. What hurts, though, is the thought of him retiring there and having his last game there, with a proper ceremony in front of a stadium that isn't empty and isn't Camp Nou. Unimaginable.
I don't think many casual viewers could name even 5 names of players in a clasico now without Messi.
This is the only thing I can't get into my head. La liga just letting it go.
I thought so last year too after he didn't show up for training.
Laporta: "It's a very important event for the history of Bar?a and that's why I spoke to the whole dressing room. I explained to them that a new era is beginning, that they are the protagonists and that we have to show the world that we can win."
Imagining the scene with the players at hand...
