Good keeper doesn't mean good signing. I don't see the need for him, or rather I don't think the need is so big that it would warrant paying 12m. Signing him means risk avoidance (in case MAtS/Masip flop) but it could also mean slowing down MAtS' & Masip's development as he'd obviously demand...

Zubi said on MAtS' presser that when they started scouting him in 2011/12, they showed him to the then gk coach, who was impressed by him. If I'm not mistaken, that was Unzué at the time. So I do think they approve of MAtS.

I just hope you're wrong with that suspicion. MAtS is too good a talent for the club to hinder his development in an attempt to avoid all risks by rotating him/making him backup etc. But I trust Unzué and Lucho to know what they're doing, so I'll just assume they went "all out" for Bravo because...

I expect MAtS to be #1. Had they wanted him to be #2 or to have serious long-term competition, they could have gotten e.g. Navas. I don't think Bravo would be too good to be a backup either (considering his club form), but he'd be a very good one, unlike Pinto. Might be that Lucho really wanted...
