He has made some bad passes in games this season, but luckily it hasn't cost the team.

Anyway, always been a world class keeper. The critics from last season have been muzzled.

Keepers like this are annoying though. The ones that are great when we're mediocre but bad when we're good/elite. So shit like this is always said when they return to form. Anyone who watched our UCL games from 2017-2020 knows that Ter Stegen was one of our biggest liabilities. More than half those goals aren't goals if we had a good, let alone a world class, goal keeper during that time frame. But of course, all it takes is less than half a season to convince you fickle lot that he's world class. Those goals from Liverpool were an embarrassment and I'm never forgiving him for it. Nor should anyone else.

We've had 4 seasons of this guy crumbling in high pressure games. All the good will is gone. Don't care how well he does this season, he should still be replaced.

No. Our biggest liability the last 4 years in Champions League was putting out slow, unathletic players who lack work rate. Plus they had entitlement about their playing style and thought they could out-technique teams instead of putting in the physical work.

Ter Stegen had some bad moments too and isn't completely without blame, but he is still a top keeper. Not many better than him.

Last season many fans were completely convinced Xavi would replace him in the summer. Didn't happen.

3 out of the 4 goals during the Liverpool away game were goalkeeper errors.

No. Only the 4th goal was and in that the rest of the team was asleep too. The rest were clear shot on goal for the Liverpool players.

You have to be trolling.

1. Rebounds the ball directly towards a player. From a weak shot, Henderson literally just passes the ball to ter Stegen.

2. Gini's shot was directed towards Ter Stegen's body, he literally catches it and lets it slip under his hands. Any goalkeeper with actual wrists saves that.

4. Out of position. Sleeping. Distracted. Also, goalkeepers are supposed to command their lines. The defense was sleepy because Ter Stegen's a shit leader.

The only one that's not his fault was Gini's header.

The Roma game? I don't hate that one was much because it was the quarter finals but still, 2 out of those 3 goals were saveable.

The first 2 Liverpool goals were from close range shots. The defense(mostly Alba) messed up and let Henderson get a shot from 10 ft out. It was obviously going to create a rebound. Not Ter Stegen's fault.

The 2nd one was a powerful close range shot. Even if it is at the keeper, it was a low, strong shot from close range. Hardly a GK error.

The 4th one was on the entire team. Even if Ter Stegen was ready and attentive, the rest of the defence failed in their man marking duties. An error that shouldn't have happened at this level.

Only the 1st Roma goal was a softie. 3rd one was just the weak Barca defence getting outmuscled.

Another proof that most in here like to talk out of their asses. Somehow they got it into their heads that the GK should make up for every other problem a team has.

Exactly. People would rather direct all the blame towards the keeper rather than acknowledge that their favorite players or manager is also to blame. The GK should not have so many expectations put on them that they be a band-aid for all the other problems in the team.
