He is good. We're at a stage at the club where we could try and sell him for a decent fee, and find a replacement where there would be minimal trade off.

Madrid just knocked out City after suffering 100 shots with Lunin in goal. Lunin is someone who has been rather average during his career but stepped up this season. Showing that you don't always need a world class goalkeeper, but a good one can suffice while investing in other spots.

It would be basically like us having Alvaro Valle in goal and knocking out PSG.

If we take Mats out the team then we're going to have to allow the manager (whoever that is) to play in a different way. And not be so focused on building from the back. We already have one liability on the ball in Araujo. Mats provides stability in the buildup from the back, add one more person who isn't great on the ball and we'll be in trouble every game trying to play that way.

There's obviously better keepers at corners, shot stopping, leadership etc but we'll need two cb's strong on the ball in that case.

Ter Stegen is the least of our problems. That clumsy striker who walks on the pitch should leave. We should sign someone who fits the Barca DNA. Not these Fullkrug types.

He's the least of our problems, a tier 1 keeper, would have saved even 1 goal from the Liverpool and Roma return legs, I mean 1 total from both games, he couldn't do that.

But to spend money on a keeper isn't it right now, we just have to live with what we got.

The difference he makes was seen when he returned from his injury. Would easily fight for La Liga without his injury.

Had a great save in first half against Mbappe. Apart from that there was hardly anything he could do against goals.

Ter Stegen ability in the ball isn't that unique tbh. More and more GK are good at it. Maybe a decade ago when he was a Neuer wannabe but not now, not really.

I don't think selling him now is feasible tbh. I doubt there are many buyers outside KSA and you bet he still dream of the day he will takeover Neuer as No1 for Germany.

With his age, height, injuries I think we shouldn't plan with him as starting GK beyond 2026. This gives us room to start looking around for potential cheap future replacement but we need to start working now.

I think the level of passing and ability to receive the ball Mats has is exceptional compared to most keepers.

That being said I agree there's far more keepers who are serviceable - good with their feet nowadays.

It would depend what that drop off in quality on the ball would be compared to the improvement in other goalkeeping areas. Agree looking for a starting keeper should start now but maybe only bought as you say in 2026.
