Technically it would have been a wrong call, but Rizzoli could have sent off Neuer for dangerous play? I'm grasping at straws here. Pls understand. Neuer would also not be considered greatest GK of all time if Messi/Higuain/Palacio could finish their chances.

It wasn't even a high foot. Just an unfortunate collision.

Yes, he only came bombing forward and jumped to get the ball thus ending up hitting Higuain in the head with his knee. Football should give head injuries more importance and attention.

Back to MatS I really liked what I saw on the ball. He gives defenders infinite confidence with the ball at his feet and attackers will back off. He looks as comfortable as VV in his prime.

Love the great touch MtS had settling that long sky ball at 1:22 in the posted video (at 73:59 game clock). Could have taken with his hands, or on the bounce, but just killed it with a soft touch on his foot.

I never said he's the GOAT. I said he's a GOAT level type goalkeeper. I have personally never seen anybody as good as him, and that includes Schmeichel, Buffon, and Kahn. If he keeps his level up for a few more years he has a great case for GOAT.

And who cares if they finish their chances? None of them were chances that were a must save. Him winning the world cup hasn't influenced my opinion at all. If Higuain burries his chance I'm still of the same opinion.

People ranking goal keepers too much on titles has led to atrocities like Iker Casillas winning multiple world goal keeper of the year awards (Though besides him being Spain's #1 his Real Madrid darling status certainly contributed to that too).

I'll give you that. If Neuer keeps this up or if he, dare I say it, improves upon his game, then he definitely will be in the GOAT keeper discussion.

He is, by far, the best goalkeeper I have had the pleasure of watching in action.

Actually, I'll amend this. Neuer is the best false #5, sweeper keeper I have ever seen.

Some of you are going way overboard. A mere 45 mins against a segunda oppn that finished below Barca b last season. He was barely tested, and showed decent distribution (as per his own high standards).
To build up hype is setting oneself up for disappointment when a said player doesn't keep up. His first real test is still to come, and there will be inevitable hiccups before he establishes himself as the mainstay in goal. My concern is when the first set of errors do happen, the staff don't lose faith in him, likewise the fans. I still remember his game against eintracht, despite his blunder, he continued to play his natural game and looked unfazed. But Gladbach fans were more forgiving, and he had a big proponent in Favre. He won't 've the same support system in Barca, though he should. And this is what will really test his character, and define his Barca future.

And stop with the Neuer comparison, ppl. Mats is his own self, and if he fulfils his potential will be known for his own individual skills and achievements. Besides, we don't want the german non-culer members invading the Barca player section. Its bad as it is.

Not sure how a goalie who makes 0 saves is MOM without bias ...

lol. He's not serious.

"I felt more secure today with Ter Stegen 45 min at the goal than 5 years with Pinto."

¡Gr?*cies Xavi!
A little off topic, but did Pinto's poor technique ever cost us a goal? I really can't think of any incidents.
