When he was injured in 14/15, Lucho stayed with Bravo even after the Intl break. I don't think Lucho will change the status quo, unless Bravo has a poor run up til then. This also means that MAtS could request a transfer in Jan, as I don't think he'll be happy with his cup role for a third successive season.

It's is impossible for him to move in Jan.

Because Barca doesn't want to sell and no good club would want to buy a GK who can't play in the CL

I know Barca have put forth a clause or nothing stance in regards to the keepers. But if City meets the half way mark (~40 M€), I think he'll be gone if he insists. And tbh, Lucho hasn't shown to be a big fan of MAtS. On the other hand he would thrive under Guardiola, who I'm sure would pick him in a heartbeat, even if it means he can't play CL for a bit.

Yeah. And I do feel bad for Ter Stegen as this pretty much means Luis Enrique will have to go with the same rotation (Bravo League, Ter Stegen CdR and the CL) again.

Why does it have to mean that at all? Bravo was injured at the start of last season and as soon as he got better he went right back into the starting lineup. If Mats finds himself benched after his return from injury it means he was already going to be benched even without the injury, and he should leave.

Bravo went back into the starting lineup because Stegen was underwhelming while he was out injured. If Stegen would've been amazing in that period, we don't know what would have happened.

When Bravo came back he was conceding goals at the same rate as Mats until our defense sorted itself out. It's not like Bravo came in and the team immediately got it together defensively.

I'm not talking about conceding goals from very hard shots, or situations where the defence fails you. I'm talking about personal mistakes. He did a few while Bravo was out. Conceding twice from 50m. in a month should never happen if you want to claim the no1 spot.

The point remains though, that an early season injury should not ruin another year of Mats's career. If that's really all it takes then perhaps it's best if he does leave this winter.

What do you mean "all it takes". You are making no point.
What about Bravo? He was and is a better keeper and that's why he was No1 for 2 seasons.
And I don't see how Stegen's career is ruined. He played the CL and won. Copa twice.
Also helped in final fixtures of La Liga last season.

There isn't a no 1 gk. If Bravo was the no 1, he'd be playing CL too. No 2 gk don't play that.

If Bravo was so much better he'd have been playing both competitions since he got here. The CL isn't exactly easy mode. Is there a single team on the planet who's CL keeper isn't league worthy?

And I specifically said "Another year" so I'm not sure why you're attacking me. Playing only the cups clearly isn't something Mats wants to do, and if he gets stuck with those again that is a pretty ruined season. I'm sure he'd probably rather win trophies playing every week, than win trophies playing once or twice per month. And this season looks to be a major crossroads. Our keeper situation simply won't survive if the rotation stays the same, and we'd be in much more trouble long term if we lost Mats than if we lost Bravo.

I'd sell him for 40-50m. If then Robert would sign a good defensive rb like Fabinho.
