One of the biggest problems in the backline IMO is some questionable leadership bar, Stegen.
Stegen has no qualms about ripping into the back four but there's a lot to be desired about Pique when it comes to leadership these days. He's been here since the summer of 2008 and has played alongside the likes of Puyol, Marquez, Mascherano etc.
You would think to play alongside those guys he would learn quite a bit from those guys that would help him down the road in regards to leadership. I was convinced back in 2014/15 and 15/16 Pique started to see it and take charge of the backline. But here we are in 2018 and we are back to square one again.
Mascherano before his decline did a pretty good job shepherding Roberto when he played RCB with Bob at RB. Much better than what Pique has been doing.
