This guy is a million miles off from the best keepers in the world.
Look at the performances so far in the CL this season from the likes of Mendy, Ederson, Neuer, Courtois, Navas etc....all have better performances than the German Joe Hart has had combined in the last 6 years.

Play Stegen for any of the 2 teams today, if he was madrid keeper they would have lost 6-0, play him for chelsea, chelsea would have lost 3-2.

Courtois is a wall.. Absolute wall. But terrible with his feet. I would have bought that excuse for stegen if we were still a tiki taka machine, which we are not. Our tiki taka is playing rondos between stegen and the CBS in our own box before giving the ball away.. So yeah.. Since we don't tiki taka or build any shit from the back, the primacy of our keepers should shift straight away from the sweepers to the actual keepers who keep the sheet clean!

Stop with this playing with your feet bullshit requirement. That's only a requirement if you do your primary duties well, like saving shots and using your fuking hands, because you know, YOU'RE A GOALKEEPER.
Even Xavi and Iniesta, the greatest tiki-taka midfield duo, had other amazing primary attributes that made them great mids. Both could run an easy 12-13 km per match in their primes and could defend and close down gaps when needed. They were great players even without their passing abilities.

Xavi and Iniesta were complete midfielders for one style.
MATS is a pretty complete keeper for that same style.

I think one of our sporting directors said he knew MATS wasn't all that and pushed hard to sign Courtois from Atletico but the board chose MATS at the end to compete with Bravo.

ter Stegen was signed months before Claudio Bravo by Zubi.
They might have preferred Courtois initially, but Chelsea owned his rights and they didn't want to sell him.

We should do like Chelsea, get rid or bench the overrated bum Kepa/MAtS, and get some good GK that is not yet well known like Mendy, who is now showing on the biggest stage that he is potentially world class.
Maignan from Lille comes to mind. Would be a cheap replacement and probably an instant upgrade, also we could sell MAtS and make a profit, have more money for a forward.

I think the weaknesses of MATS are harder to spot than for example Kepa and you have to watch more games of him to see it. He has got a good reputation as a top keeper, it seems that
mostly barcafans see this case a little bit different. He doesn't do obvious blunders very often, it's his passivity that let's goals in. He doesn't rush out anymore to get to a long ball, so he can't be late for the ball and be overlapped. When there are crosses that could be cleared he often also sticks to the goalline.
Then often the defenders get the whole blame, but if you watch every game you can see imo that the does so litte anticipating nowadays. In his first years he also tried to make the game fast much more, when he's got the ball now, he holds
onto it, and waits 10 seconds until it's safe again because the other team is back in deep position. This is especially painful to watch when you play against the bus, which was the case in most of the last matches.
