I am pretty sure I saw reports about him being able to leave for free in the summer because of his situation. Anyway, nobody is paying 25m for a year of Depay. Mats would fetch 20 at best.

I don't think ter Stegen's best years are ahead of him. He's more likely to fall off a cliff like Casillas than be able to play longer like van der Sar, Neuer and Buffon did.

If he's had issues with his knee for the last few years it won't get better the older he gets. He looks less explosive off the line due to that now, and from what I have noticed taller GKs seemingly have a better chance of playing till their mid to late 30s than shorter ones like Marc.

Well, all the big clubs have good GKs and probably wouldn't want to invest if there isn't a stringent need to do that.

Teams like Napoli, Dortmund, Marseille are getting CL football but are not interested in paying that much(salary wise) for a GK.

Stegen is not high on the liability chart. Solid top 10-25 goalkeeper. Top 10 when on form.

But yes, we need to look at a market opportunity (Cech @ Rennes, Courtois @ Genk) where you watched them or their highlights and knew they had world class potential.
