You joking? Messi is a great passer yes but Ron was probably not just the best forward like Messi is, but was probably also the best playmaker in the world at that time.

IMO You can't say Ron wasn't as succesful with his team, because it he didn't nearly have the same quality of players...NO WAY!..(only Deco and Ron playing at the level they were would of made it into this team)

Also you can not say Ron did not turn up in big games...3-0 vs Madrid? Nearly beating Chelsea by himself for us to only go out because Carvalho was holding Valdes? there's loads more examples...Also you can't say Ron was no where to be seen in the champions league final because, where was Messi in the Chelsea game...Both were no where...Why? becuase there was 11 players behind the ball.

Yeah I know that's exactly what I was saying in my post, that Xavi was also injured. But then again if you think about it, it's not really true that he dind't have the same quality of players - now we have Abidal, Maxwell, Busquets, Piqué, Chysus, Márquez etc etc these are all the same sorts of players that Gio, Sylvi, Motta, MVB etc were. Btw I am NOT saying Piqué is only as good as the ones from the previous generation, because actually i think he's one of the best if not the best CBs atm, but he's the same caliber player - reputation, cost, value to the squad. So ayway I'd say player and squad-wise it's even.

Also if you notice my post you'll see that I mentioned the 3-0 vs Madrid but other than that in all the other clasicos he underperformed whereas Messi was super. And that was his only outstanding CL performance other than the group stage matches, now if you think about Messi in the Chelsea game it was 10 on 11 behind the ball, whereas for Barca with Dinho it was the OTHER way around, with 11 on 10... And Dinho still didn't shine. The trophies speak for themselves. But then that's too squad-based, so for me the stats speak even louder - Ronaldinho in his best season scored less goals and gave less assists than Messi in his best season. Both players are legendary and both are incredible in their own ways, but for me Messi has a slight edge in an overall comparison now. I wrote last year that he had to do more to prove it but now he's done it, and he can keep improving on it if he keeps it up.

???? 11 on 10 so what? We had the CB'S in the box aswell...AND THE GOALKEEPER!

And secondly it's funny how you named 3 subs in the 'next generation players' (our present squd) also MVB is not as good as iniesta, motta not as good as Toure, sylvi not as good as Alves, Gio probably the same as Abidal maybe

The squads were no way even also you named two Lb's in your players form the previous squad...Also to further highlight the differences in squads our D back up now is Maxwell and maybe even Puyol back then it was the Ogg!!!

No I'm just pointing out that the point you made about the CL is void, because you said Arsenal put 11 men behind the ball, which isn't true cause they didn't have more than 10 in the first place, and also Messi was given a much more difficult situation to shine since Barca were down to 10.
Well, coincidentally i didn't name Iniesta because Iniesta was in the squad under Ronnie too, and Sylvi I named for Maxwell, which is a fair comparison, Motta you can just look at at Genoa, everyone knows that Motta was extremely talented, and even now he's a great player, he was just injured too often and therefore he left (Barca weren't patient enough - with right). Motta is as good as Keita imo, and could have been as good as Yaya.

The Barca squad of today is marginally better, but that's why I shifted to individual statistics (not even trophy hauls, since that's squad dependent) and the answer there is clear cut. And if we could also look at tackles made and balls won back, Messi would be sky-high compared to Dinho. Ronaldinho was a free-kick and passing specialist, a great dribbler before he lost his speed. Messi is a dribbling and scoring specialist, with great passing and back-tracking tackler, and a good free-kick taker. They also score around the same no. of headers. So for me Leo is better.

Seriusly how can you say the squad is marginally better today than it was?????????????
It's much better, we now have better subs bench, better defence and midfield also wasn't Ron man of the match in the final?

agree with Beef. Ronnie was a very unique player, a true artist, he made us wait for the next trick. Pure entertainment in his prime. Messi on the other hand is more direct and more effective no doubt. But we have to acknowledge Guardiola's role here. He matured a lot under him and improved multiple aspects in his game.

Messi is my hero, absolute hero. Im calling 1239210 goals for him this season. I promise. How good was that goal he set up for Keita..pure genius. I love Ray Hudson too..."Beating Barcelona is like trying to nail jello to the ceiling...impossible"

meh Berlusconi has far better quotes :D

I'm paraphrasing here btw "in 2008 I was asked to do two things, get rid of communists and sign ronaldinho. I did both"
"the market for milan is closed ronaldinho is the best" (yes he did mean the best in the world )
Champion.
