I dont know but the Messi of 08-09 through to 10-11 was the best I've seen him. He scored alot of goals last season but he's begining to look heavy and slow nowadays especially this season. His pace seems to have dropped and he seems more predictable. Also teams are defending against him alot better.

I dont know why he drops so deep nowadays but he's better when he's not dropping that deep. Also I think he has an agreement with Barca in that he will always play in the middle. I'd like to see him on the right wing in some games but I dont think hes fast enough nowadays.

I'm not agreee with you. For Messi is very difficult to be on the pitch, because everybody wants him not to play well. He receives more faults than earlier. He is fast, he can play well on the wing, but he is much more, and complexed.

You mean in those 4 official games that we played so far..Messi, the only player in the world that has to at 100% all year while playing all the minutes for Barca and Argentina.

It may have something to do with the fact that this year Xavi and Iniesta have been subpar in a lot of games and Messi has to drop deep so the team could create something.

I don't know why is so hard for many people to understand that Messi is not a winger anymore and that players evolve in time. You can't have one of the best players of all time and isolate him on the wings just because you would like to do so. He has to play where he's most comfortable.

You are right in one aspect though: teams have adapted to Barca's false nine and I think that it would help Messi if he would have a true 9 in front of him in some games, especially when Iniesta doesn't play well(like in the final minutes against Osasuna). But for that to happend Tito has to trust Villa and Alexis and make Cesc more responsable. Resting Messi in some home games against weak teams also wouldn't hurt.

Barca needs to find a way to ensure that all their forwarders are happy, not "avoid this because it may hurt Messi's performance". It's best if MVP scores 30 goals each than watching Messi score 70 goals because that means we'll probably lose every important title, as that's pretty much what happened.

Messi can do the same, but the fact that he doesn't try is what pisses me off. I don't think anyone, like me, wants to see Messi in the wing every game, but I, personally, at least would like to see him change positions with Villa & Pedro from time to time. That will surely make it harder for defenders to predict Messi's movements.

I don't agree with you, because other players had opportunities to score, not just Messi! Messi shouldn't score less, other should score more. You won't lose every important title because of Messi.

Messi isn't the problem!!! I don't want Villa as a 9. He let out a lot of possibilities in Barca!Villa can't score so many goals than Messi!!! They change positions!

Because I see that you're so good at math, maybe you would be so kind to compare the minutes those three played in 2010/2011 & 2011/2012..but only if you think that they are relevant to the point you were trying to make.

Messi had possibilities against chelsea. He wasn't so bad. He had a header, and an other possibility. May be Messi didn't have so much free place to have other chances to score against chelsea. He is in the midfield, and he can give possibilities for others.

messi has changed his game more and more..like ronaldo they are both incredible effective .. but im missing the runs and tricks a little bit from leo.. now hes more calm and standing around witing for the ball... hope he gets little more fire back
