does +21 stand for assists? if so, you are wrong. Messi has only 16 assists in 2012 : )

Different criteria for assists, then. These numbers are according to FIFA World Cup 1990 criteria. And, as jiopi often says, wider criteria gives better view on involvement on goals.

I browsed a bit through that forum and they think that Messi is the one that forces Barcelona to be Messi dependent because he's selfish. I hope they keep thinking that and Madrid focus completely on Messi in the Clasico which allows Villa to score a hat trick. :worthy:

i agree with him in the first part about no off-ball movement and just waiting to get the ball but it's not 'cos he is in a decline but because he is pretty lazy lately.

I don't think he is lazy. Messi isn't a running machine! He isn't so strong physically, and he has to save his eneregy for many matches.

Valdano: "Messi is a class apart from the rest if you ask me. There is nobody who's even close to the level at which he plays."

"Messi is a class apart from the rest if you ask me. There is nobody who's even close to the level at which he plays," Valdano was quoted as saying by El Heraldo.

The former Argentina star then went on to voice his opinion that Barcelona and Spain are the new benchmark in football, while also hailing Pep Guardiola.

"Barcelona and the Spanish national team are now the benchmarks in football. Having possession allows you to play great football.

"Barca had someone who has greatly innovated the game in Pep Guardiola."

it's the part of his game that changed this and last year, and what's with that silly notion that he is weak physically he is one of the strongest players out there.Do you even watch him play or you come to these conclusions like many others by reading forums.

I've been seeing all his matches for a long time. I know, he is strong, but he isn't a running machine like Alves. He isn't so just from the last season. Since Guardiola he hasnT been running so much. He has to play 60-70 matches. Beleive me, he couldn't play so much, if he would run 12 kilometres in a match.
