If it was a player from depor or a player from getafe or a player from Bilbao then it would have been a normal red card offence and normal 3 game ban.

But because its Messi and Barca then it has to be more eh. The tackle was bad but not horrendous and thus a normal bad should suffice.

injuring best player in the world like that is a huge crime..whole world of football might suffer

And you must not forget that football is not Hitler's Germany. The foul was bad, if it was intentional or not we don't know, but as long as it didn't look intentional the player defo shouldn't get ban. Messi is just like other footballers.

Jesus some people 'Messi is God' joke taking way too serious.

1. Messi is football god is not a joke :)
2. Messi isn't just like other footballers...a player like him may be the last in this generation
Xavi said : "He is different; there is not another player like him. You can’t compare him with anyone else because they will end up getting burnt. He is the best. For me the things he is showing mean that he is the best. I haven’t seen anything like him, either on a pitch or in training. To have him with us is fantastic and, truthfully, I wouldn’t swap him for anybody."
3. But i know ujfalusi does not mean to injured him..so, 3/4 matches ban is fair enough...12 is super ridiculous..:D

It was bad though. Just because he got lucky and only suffered a sprain instead of torn ligaments or a broken ankle should not detract from the fact it was a bad, bad tackle.

Annoying as all hell to continue to read these comments from managers etc, weighing in that if it were any other player than Leo or CR, that the reaction would be less intense...Obviously, there's more attention because of the significance of it being Leo...BUT, the actual foul and manner in which it was done is egregious, regardless of player...That sort of thing has to be dealt with appropriately, as many others have agreed, so that ALL players are protected...That serves no one's best interests to see a defender potentially cripple another player or put them on the shelf indefinitely...There's far too much at stake, whether you are a big club like Barca or a tiny one like Sporting...Moreover, it is NOT football to physically harm another player like this...It has no place in the game and so I believe the punishment has to fit the crime and be a clear message to other defenders, that this sort of 'defending' cannot be tolerated

What is your point, Beast? Dani Alves should have been banned for 4 games for that challenge, tied down and B slapped accordingly. You make it sound as if people are playing favoritisms because it's Messi and I don't think that is the case. ANYONE challening like that should be match banned. And two games is a slap on the wrist. 4 games is appropriate.

Don't blame Barca fans for incompetent refs.

Well i woud like that fifa and Sepp.. starts to do something about alot of trends we have seen in todays football, do we really want to see a NHL kinda football where teams hire "thugs" with one job, to destroy the other teams stars? i want to see beatiful passes, dribbles etc, not tackles that injure players, some players may like the english football more becouse its grittier and there more tackles, but that is the reason i dont like it.
The other thing they should try to get rid of is all the damn pulling of shirts and handball we could see in the WC, and you should be banned afterwards for those freaking dives taht happened every 1 min in the WC.

Oh yes it's 10000000000000 % the case .

It's not even a subject for debate , i felt sorry for Messi cause that's a natural thing to do but some of the "fake " passion and calls for crucifixion is way over the top and ... yes Hypocritical

go to Alves thread and see if there is the same crusade or even 1/1000 of what he is writing or others

Sadly, Beast, you remain incredibly biased through your RM glasses...You're gonna compare that challenge to Ujfalusi's?...I thought you had more insight than that
fp.gif

1. Dani is not behind the play or the player...Ujfalusi is
2. Dani gets the ball BEFORE inadvertently catching the player's ankle...Ujfalusi got nowhere near the ball, only got the player's ankle
3. Dani is sliding for the tackle, Ujfalusi is not sliding and instaed coming down, heel first
4. Dani immediately goes to make sure the player is alright on the pitch...Ujfalusi never even remotely showed an interest in the player's well being
5. Dani was not red carded and rightly so based on how the play developed, the rules of the game and the player's intent & action...Ujfalusi qualified for none of those

Pathetic from you Beast :blind:

It is more highlighted because he is the best player on Earth naturally. That is the reason it is so big (atleast the way I see it). I'm TELLING you Alves should have the same ban as Ufalusi. What more do you want? haha

It is up to the refs to make the judgements, as Pep said. You expect us to crusade against Alves when the ref didn't call something? That is like the Inter fans crusading against the Yaya handball that led to Bojans goal. That would be pretty crazy don't you think?

Thank you so much for proving you are one sad hypocritical ...
and senor Ujfalusi was NOT BEHIND Messi  jesus christ and yeah he didn't show any remorse just Milito prevented Ujfalusi from checking on Messi in the dressing room
.. just like a taking a candy from a baby  , didn't take much time

Not according to FCBarca.. so sadly Pepe he proved you wrong..
see how suddenly 5 excuses appeared simply because Alves is a Barca player ? so back to my proven point it's a case of 10000 % hypocrisy from his part

And see, I had been thinking the same about you...Although had hoped you had the capacity to see the difference through those rose colored shades

Hypocrisy would apply were the examples even remotely similar but logic must've been a class you missed along the way since the only similarity is that both had their ankles injured
