I dont subscribe to this theory that he needs to win a world cup to join the greats. Did Cryuyff, for example, win a world cup? Did George Best? Should not and does not take away from their sublime skill and talent though.

to be remembered as cruyff, yes..but to be remembered as maradona, a world cup is needed - even we know he is the greatest in this era..u know, juz to silence the haters

Needing to win a world cup to be the best is stupid imo.

No individual in modern day football could win the world cup singe handed.

Don't really like to compare players from different eras e.g. Maradona and Messi.

Both amazing players.

Needs to be used sparingly in the next few weeks. Rushing him back could be bad for both Barcelona and Leo. Look at Rooney - he sprained his ankle against Bayern back in April and he hasn't been the same since. Yesterday he was subbed off against Bolton and had an ice pack on his ankle. Worrying injury if not treated properly, and Messi is FAR too good to have his career come to a grinding halt because of a sprained ankle.

he'll be on the bench vs. kazan, maybe a sub appearance but in the cold of russia I doubt it unless we're losing.

dunno about mallorca, depends on how he's recovered. tbh seeing that laudrup has returned to his hack-happy ways I'd rather he stayed on the sidelines for that one too, or at least restricted himself to a sub appearance before starting against valencia.

I'm sure Pep won't risk him. But he looks good... less than 10 days and he's already training.

Tip. Heartening pics though. I take it he is now training fully with the rest of the squad?

Diegomessi is bang on. For me, Kazan away is the toughest game and even if it goes badly, we should still cruise the group thereafter. Id rather save him for League duty where its important to consolidate that newly found lead over RM and crank the pressure on them even further.
