Yes he may have carried us again, but sometimes you just feel that he was holding the ball and trying too much himself when teammates are in a better position.

Eg. A break with Messi carrying the ball last night and he decided to go for it himself with 3 guys in front of him rather then passing to Villa who is free. I know he is Messi but that doesn't mean he is free from criticism.

He did try to pass to Villa a few times which were intersected. And then that one brilliant pass found Villa in a very good position in the box. If Villa could have used that ball he would have been on the score sheet.

his scoring alot but he seems a lot less sharp than last season. I hope its nothing permanent or anything but its been like this for a while i think even before his injury. If it was last season when he was running at those 2-3 defenders with villa on his right i could've put my house on him passing all three of them and putting it past the keeper. A couple of his shots that i would be 100% confident that he could nail he also kicked it off target. Still played brilliantly for any player but seems not as sharp compared to when his on form and looks like he'll score everytime he gets the ball.

To me it seems his a lot less selfish than last season which is a good and bad thing i guess. A couple of times where i think he could've easily taken it he passed it to villa, which isnt a bad thing ofcourse because villa getting goals is also very important.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Messi has the capability to get past a number of defenders and score at the end of almost any run from the edge of the box or running in from even further distances out. I think he was doing better before the short ankle injury. I hope he picks it up again.

he is certainly not on his best form but still he is banging in goals, he always has a few average games every season so this is no surprise but once he is back at his best there's no stoping him. the good thing is Iniesta is in brilliant form and he is almost as unstopable as Messi when on form

He scored for himself but also created for Villa; I think he tries so much harder when the others fail to score, hence the "selfishness". And to be a prolific scorer one has to be a bit selfish- it means that he believes in himself. We'd be in big trouble if Messi suddenly second guesses himself and starts looking around for someone to pass to instead of scoring.

It is absurd to label Messi as selfish.

He laid atleast 3 sublime passes to his teammates yesterday. Needless to say, the chances were squandered but the fact remains, he has vision for his teammates and distributes.

He is the premier all-around player of the world.

It was disappointing to watch Sky's highlight show last night since when they got to the Barca match, they didn't add any analysis or insight on Barca's form or the match...They only went on about Maradona vs Messi, I mean is this really an interesting question to continue to entertain?...Just seems plain lazy

Shame too since Eidur was in studio and could've given some interesting insights on what he sees from the outside looking in, felt like it was a real missed opportunity for some interesting input

Guddy did gush, however, about Leo...Saying it was evident quite early that he was going to be special - essentially echoing what anyone with 20/20 vision would say I suppose

Three great passes doesn't mean he couldn't possibly be selfish, and there's no question that he is.

Well, to be honest, Messi did a few more masses than usual yesterday. Passing the ball, though, is not one of his best attributes. He is more a machine that works straight for the goal. His young age probably and speed narrows his wide angle vision which can make him seem very selfish.
