51 games 31 goals in UCL. 7 appearances 6 goals this season alone. I don't think we need to worry about him not being mentally strong. He might struggle from time to time but he is only a human and still young enough to learn from his experience.

messi being compared to CR for his selfishness. dear god.

Well in general, he's not nearly as selfish as Ronaldo. Lol.

But in this particular match, there was more than one occasion where he clearly should have passed to an open man and instead would try to take an impossible shot.

THAT is what Ronaldo does. Not saying Messi does it all the time. But he was definitely selfish in that match.

he does that EVERY match, he always does one of his runs and instead of passing he shoots, at least once a game imo. but since we lost this one people are emphasising it

Made an assist for our only goal and scored himself but it was wrongfully disallowed. And this is in a match where he was scrutinized.

Btw. Don't bother responding to trolls guys. Use the report button (located beneath each profile) instead and mods will deal with them swiftly.

Come on guys, I thought this thread would be really supportive of Messi. From the rational posts, seems like there is a consensus he needs a break, no one is super human, if you are playing him week in week out, you can't expect 100%. He hit the outside of the net and got across the far post when dealing with Chesney, who had a great game and is good at making himself big. Just a little variation in postion or timing, that would have been a goal or 2. His disallowed goal whether right or wrong, again showed him playing well. These things can upset a strickers mind and with you saying he a bit worn out, surely he put in a great performance. You have the greatest player in the world, don't bail out on him because he can't live up to expectations everyweek, their is no certainty in football, it would be pretty boring if there was

Didn't he put 4 past us last year, don't have short memories

Have you seen any post criticizing him for not scoring!? If so, just forget you did... probably some one who thinks he is superman or some thing!!

Really good post man, and from a gooner. You really have to imagine yourself in that scenario, of course everyone makes mistakes, we're humans. He's got 40 goals and over 20 assists. Without Messi, this Barca team would be like Spain, and would be struggling a lot to get goals.
