No I'm 11.. cmon every1 has his own oppinion and my differs from most of u guys. But seriously Maradona's through balls were agains uber slow defenders, badly structured teams and they werent exacly correct most of the time.

+ Most of Leo's briliant passes are done while he is runing full speed or skiping past defenders.

He had nearly 400 assists and 47 on international level, Messi has 76 so far and 17 on international level, not that stats speak the whole story but just sayin.
Maradona is considered to be one of the best passers in history yet you claim Messi is better at him at 24 years of age, I hope your joking. Messi is not even top 3 at Barca atm in passing.

And he was doing it with those short-shorts riding up his crotch too. Incredible.

I think Messi is just as good though, and he seems a better overall person...

Absolutely amazing, though his teammates sucked for missing so many chances.

Also some people who claim Beckham, Cristina or even our own Ronnie are among the best free kick specialists. They are nowhere near Maradona,Maradona was perhaps the best, maybe better than Juninho and Zico at set pieces. Near post, far post, top corner, bottom corner, curlers, screamers; he could do it all.

Watch the scoreline, the number of times he pulls back napoli from a goal down or gives them the lead is absolutely amazing. That is the importance of having a free kick specialist, you may have been outplayed through out the whole match and be down to 9 men, you can still win with a player like Maradona. The most amazing thing is that there was a separate compilation for the number of times Maradona hit the bar just during free kicks. And to think that we complain about villa hitting the bar....

Why is it always that Leo is compared to the GREAT DIEGO. We all Know here that in football terms Leo is by far the best player that has ever graced the earth (Diego is the equal or the only challenger). He is not as commanding as Diego was but the competition is a little bit different. These days it is unbelieveable what LEO is doing.

Because some of us want him to be even better than Diego; if anyone can do it, it's only Messi.

And yes, we are spoiled...

:rofl1:

Juninho was banging 'em from 40 meters regularly. And did/does the same shit that you wrote above.

If I were to rank the best free kick players without bias, it'd probably be something like -

1. Mihaljovic.

2. Zico.

3. Juninho

4. Roberto Baggio

5. Maradona/Platini.

6.Eder.

7. Koeman. No bias of course.

Messi isn't even the 3rd best passer in our team. That's not a blight on Messi because he's a striker not a playmaker.Nobody expects that from him. However set pieces is a different matter. He was the greatest freekick specialist .

You are criminally underrating Messi's passing abilities.

I would only put Xavi above Messi in Barcelona, and IMO Messi is up there with the very best in the world in terms of short/mid-length passing.
Limiting Messi to a 'Striker and not a playmaker' has to be one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever heard. In case you have forgotten Messi led the LEAGUE with 18 assists last season. Its not even just that, assists don't do justice to the amount of pre-assist passes he started. Why go far, didnt' you just watch todays game? That piece of sex to Fabregas was as good of a pass as any playmaker would dream of, and it wasn't a 'low on the ground through ball'. Man I just hate how people underrate his passing.

Messi is also very creative with them, he can see spaces other players easily miss, even the best of playmakers. What makes him exceptional is the amount of time it takes him to find the space, spot the run, and play the pass, that fraction of a second makes all the difference. In fact if I were to list Messi's best abilities I would go with his dribbling, his passing, and then his finishing.

Those videos you put up for Diego were great and all, but I didn't see nothing that Messi doesn't do on everyday basis. I'm not going to go too deep with the Diego Messi comparison but the videos you put up hardly prove anything, we see Messi consistently tear teams apart with his sizzling passes everyday.

Fuck I enjoy Messi's passing more than his scoring, except of course, when he's putting them past Iker.

That's not even including last season...
