Damn..without Messi, we're f*****

I am not really complaining about the lack of goals, I was disappointed by how rusty our play was, lack of chances, a lot of missed passes, the players weren't clicking, we looked like a completely different team today.

Messi's impact is huge. These days he is often the initiator of our attack.

I wouldn't worry, this is what preseason is for. I would be more worried if we are all guns blazing, our best seasons usually start like this one has.

You guys have to take into account that the team is playing in South East Asia where is extremely hot and humid (believe me I'm from Vietnam), and the pitch was also bad, and well, our opponents did play like Real Moudrid with some strong tackles.

Martino: "Messi felt some pain, was also a bit tired, so there was a risk if he would play. Nothing bad, but we wanted to avoid an injury."

Judging from the fact that Messi was laughing and having a good time with his team mates at the sideline, it doesn't look like anything serious.

There's also the fact that perhaps now Messi is taking better care of himself. In the past, perhaps he was more inclined to not tell anyone and play with small discomforts just because the only thing he cared about was to play.

Now he is more mature and realizes that wanting to play all the time is ok, but he needs to take better care of himself for the good of his longevity and for the overall bottom line of his team. So maybe he is more inclined now to take it easy with small knocks and discomforts in the face of less important games where he does not necessarily need to play, in order to preserve himself for more important ones.

Just a thought.

If this is true, it is just awesome.

IMHO is just PR... The season hasn't even started, yet he was about to play 3 matches in 8 days time... He didn't have much of a holidays as it is, playing all these charity matches etc. Everybody wants to see Messi, they pay to see him, some friendlies are even under contract that he must play, if able.. So in any case, something had to "come up" just before the match, so that there was as little damage done as possible.

At least I hope so...
