So we know how people like to say Messi can only succeed in Barcelona with the same teammates? He's been around enough to play with several different players now and if we win the CL this year it'd be a totally different squad. I did some research and based on appearances I compiled the base of each recent CL winning squad.

2008-9: Valdes, Pique, Puyol, Marquez, Busquets, Yaya, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Henry, Eto'o.

I'll finish the research tomorrow since I'm falling asleep.

So I went through every match and tallied the matches of all our players from our 2010-11 champions league winning team and put together a list of our players who played the most in the champions league.

2010-11: Valdes, Pique, Mascherano, Alves, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Villa, Pedro, Puyol, Abidal.

You only need glasses to debunk this "myth" , obviously teams change over time...

Also you listed 11 players for 08-09 ( including a second Busquets) and 13 for this current list.
Finally there is really no need to look at every game to come up with this.

In this run Messi completed 5 dribbles. Only in 2 games this season Cristiano Ronaldo has managed to complete 5+ dribbles.

Its logical, Cristiano doesnt do dribbles, even when he tried so hard at United he was show only but inefficient, shitload of stepovers followed by a dive...
Nowadays he looks for contact right away or just passes it and looks to make a run into the box to head/tap it in.

Lol I fixed the original post. There weren't any real frequent subs in 08-09, it was more dispersed. It is an argument Ronaldo fans use all the time since Ronaldo played for United. The funny part is they make it seem like the rest of that Manchester team sucked.

Seriously?? Are people discussing this still?

Its like saying messis second goal at Santiago in the cl semis 2011 was due to his reliance on iniesta/xavi.

He is the best player ever. Get over it.

Never heard anyone use this as an argument against Messi.
