FIFA/ the FA have made Ref's demigods who decide a teams fate. Their powers should be cut down. . . When in doubt the should be made to consult a slow mo replay! This coming out now means NOTHING!

Funny how it can decide the fate of the whole year. So sad...
The ref allowed Atletico to much though, in my opinion.

That was no assist, messi tried to control it on his chest for himself, he didnt mean to control it for sanchez.

I think hes saving himself for the world cup. No way hes suddenly gone this bad. He just doesnt want to get injured just before the world cup, and i dont blame him for that.

How could he be like the old Messi today? Do you pay any attention to the way we play? He's been sub par like everyone else. When an entire team declines that quickly then you realise that tactics are at fault. ( and other external factors, training regimes etc )

He scored 41 goals, the way people went on in the chat suggested he was fallen off the face of the earth like Ronnie did.

Word. The truth and nothing but the truth.

I think it should exist a middleground when we talk about Messi. More understanding when he has bad games, but, also, less overreactions whenever he plays "just" OK.

He's had a lot of good games that were presented like some sort of incredible performance, and a lot of average games that were presented worse than they really were.

Seem alot of people here are blinded by reality, Messi had some good runs today where he dribbled few players and opened up some space ( when there was almost none ) and then his teammates completely screwed up when they got the pass from him. He also had some nice passes which his teammates failed to do anything with, apart from Sanchez's wondergoal.
Im really shocked at people here blaming the player that is the LEAST of our problems and offers us the most from this whole team, god freaking dammit get a hold of yourselves people.

But I guess if Messi doesn't score 3 goals assists 2 has 30 succesful dribbles per game and a 98% passing accuracy he sucks nowadays.

Facts:
His season was not that great as the one before ( understandable due to his injury, tactics etc.. ), but he has still been BY FAAAAAAAAR our most dangerous player when attacking, he makes like 80% of the things happen in offence and most of it gets screwed up by his competent teammates. Honestly out of our offensive players apart from Messi only Iniesta really deserves to be at Barca as the starting line up based on his ability and danger he posses in the offence, the rest DO NOT. Neymar also based on his young age and inexperience (hence bad decision making) is capable and dangerous at times when he doesn't make a stupid decision. Nobody else comes close to being a starter for Barca in our offence, sorry but those are hard facts. They are technically not good enough and not smart and fast thinking enough (or offer some other qualities we desperately need like height, strength) for Barca offence.

We need to rebuild our attack and even more desperately our defence, there are many big problems we have, Messi is not one of them.. so how about we focus on the real problems?

Football fans are the most fickle out there.

Yes but people are acting as if he made some amazing magical pass like he used to do every single game.

I don't see anyone saying that. He was average like the rest of the team. We were up against arguably the best defence and possibly the best team in Europe. The writing was on the wall before the game began

Yeah hopefully he doesn't have another season as bad as this one.

Hopefully with a new coach and system he can be the old Messi we all once knew

Accept reality folks, that old Messi is gone.

I do not think he is in decline. Teams just know how to mark him now. Google "how to mark Messi" for example to get an idea. Opponents just double or even triple mark the guy. Also, this Messi has sustained an injury and that typically changes a player. Technically, I think he has not lost much.
