He just signed a new contract where he's best paid footballer in the world. Why would he do that if he's unhappy?
Messi got his rested for the World Cup, couldn't stand Ronaldo/Neymar having higher salaries.. injury? Whatever. I'm willing to forget his nonchalant behavior on pitch this season (God knows he deserves a slack).
Next season, however, if he continues to stroll around, I will be perfectly happy if Lucho drops him for whoever is there. Noone is bigger than FCB. End of story.

Slack? really? We are too spoiled to have Leo with us and breaking records for us every year. And one season he's down & you talk so harsh of him.

Without Messi's goals and assists, we would be in 5th place in La Liga. Your Barca would sure want to play Europa league next season then. He's absolutely fine and he's human.

This is Messi's worst goal scoring season since 2008-09 :

Messi : 2013/14 - 41 goals in 46 games.

Some other top scores in their best years :

Zlatan - 2013/14 - 40 goals from 44 games.

T.Henry - 2003/04 - 39 goals from 51 games.

Samuel Eto'o : 2010/11 - 37 goals from 53 games.

RVp : 2011/12- 37 goals from 48 games.

Rivaldo 2000/01 - 36 goals from 53 games.

This talk is just damaging team name, without accomplishing anything. I like him, but if he wants to say something was wrong, he should say what exactly was wrong, or say nothing. Now everyone will speculate for months about poisoned atmosphere, his relationship with board, coach, teammates etc. He also implied he did not give his maximum effort to Barca, because of "atmosphere". Of course, I'm pissed off.

No you have it wrong, going into details could stir shit up. He probably just wanted to get that off his chest... now he will hopefully have a good world cup and next season the team will have a better atmosphere and our players can get back to their full potential. I'm pretty damn excited about next season. :barca scarf:

Jeepers is this serious?

Barca finish 5th without Messi.

There is so much wrong with this it barely worth getting in to.

You mean someone else would score those 41 goals if Messi didn't play? :pep:

Where would Barca have finished without Cesc or Sanchez?

Where would Madrid have finished without Ronaldo?

Where is the comparison of points gained with and without Messi in the team?

He had a poor season by his standards and influenced one game out of nine against the other two top teams in Spain.

We sound like Ronaldo fans trying to justify his season by numbers.

I'd be interested in seeing points and goal ratio per game with and without Messi. Too lazy to do it myself though. I don't expect the results to be significant because the sample sizes are different and the quality of the opposition is also different, but that particular stat would atleast make some sort of sense. As opposed to just taking Messi's goals and assists out.

Agree with whatever you said. But you miss the point, Messi got 99% of the stick and hate this season, that's the reason these stats are coming out to justify the absurdness of this type of bashing.

I don't think Messi's got 99% of the hate, but then again I don't read Sport and MD. Even then, the hate Messi is getting has to do with his attitude, not his skills. Whereas other players are clearly being thought of as inferior to be a part of this Barca team, which is a lot more insulting and harsh.

And I already mentioned this a couple of times, you can't expect to get a disproportionate amount of praise during the good days and then not expect to get a dispropoportionate amount of hate during the bad ones.

Messi got nowhere near the stick that the likes of Fabregas, Alves and Masch got.

He got stick when he played at walking pace and had poor work rate.

The fact that none of the players had a good season says more about the manager than the players in question. Especially if you look at how all of these players performed up until this season.

Can't wait to see him in an Argentinian shirt. I think we all need a break from Barca and all the negativity. BTW he can be had at 8/1 for WC top scorer. Sounds like easy money but I think Higuain at 20-25/1 is the value bet considering he had more goals from open play during the WCQ's.
