I have to agree with this. He pressed under Pep and presses now under Sabella, and didn't press under Tito or Tata. Coincidence? I think not. He presses when the coach instructs him to.

Yep and not only instructing him to do so but also being able to motivate him.

Someone help me out... I remember one game, I think it was earlier this season, and I'm not sure but I kinda think it was against RM... Messi put in A HUGE defensive effort... I actually remember him sprinting back and tackling someone to retrieve the ball. Was that a Clasico? I think he played on the wing, too...

Against City when he went back to tackle his good friend Aguero?

In the 2-1 home win against RM he did major defensive work and was sacrificed out on the right.

First Liga Classico 2-1 Barca where Messi played in RW. He did indeed played a very selfless role in that game giving the team a lot of hard work. Which actually is a merit to Messi, but an incredibly stupid thing to make the best player on the field, play a secondary sacrifice role.

More of the stupid that was this season.

Messi's play this season was mostly conditioned by the team and the coach. This season he was pretty much reduced to a role player, instead of the team focus. He played mostly as a pure CF, except that precise game where he was moved to RW, but still on a role player capacity.

Here look at this short video of Messi vs Madrid in the Copa del Rey final. Messi is clearly involved, but his role was totally shifted to a pure CF that is a monumental waste of his talents. No wonder he got faced out of games and was lacking in motivation. Watch that video and tell me you wouldn't feel down if you were Messi.

Look at that travesty. Messi always far away from the ball. Not involved int he build-up by design. Making pure CF moves only. Fucking reduced the best player in the world into a 5 foot 7 Llorente. Ridiculous.

^Yeah, that movement really irritated me, he kept standing right between Pepe and Ramos and Dani would just swing crosses in when there was no way in a million years Messi was going to beat them in the air, if we really wanted to have a player do that it should have been Cesc, as he's better in the air than Messi and he contributes a lot less to our buildup play, Tata definitely messed that one up
