He was great up until the 3rd goal. His speed and dribbling were top notch and he's certainly not in decline. Right around when you started watching Argentina dropped into 1st gear and took it easy. Check out his highlights.

It will happen when team sit deep against them. Messi will look to get on ball.

He has to they dont have any other attacking players that can open a defence or keep posession. Other than maybe Di Maria but he takes up a wider position when other team sits in.
