Well, two scenarios for Argentina:

Scenario (1): If Argentina beats or ties Nigeria Wednesday, they will finish the group as No.1, which means they will play the runner-up of Group E, which is more likely to be Switzerland at this point (Switzerland will play Honduras while Ecuador will play France in the last group game). If they beat Switzerland, they will go on to play the winner of Belgium vs. the runner-up of Group G, which could be either Ghana or the US. If Argentina manages to get past that, they will then probably play the Netherlands (Italy also has a slight chance). If they beat the Dutch, they will likely face the winner of Germany vs. Brazil in the final.

Scenario (2): If Argentina loses to Nigeria Wednesday, they will finish the group as No.2, which means they will play the winner of Group E, which is definitely France. If they manage to beat France, they will go on to play Germany, most likely. If Argentina pulls a miracle on the pitch and beats Germany, they will then probably play Brazil in the sem-final.

Either way it is not going to be easy for Argentina, which is one of the least impressive teams in the tournament so far. They have to collectively step up their game big time to keep going.

Nice informational post. Seems like there's a big difference in teams they have to face if Argentina finishes 1st or 2nd in the group. France and Germany back to back is very very hard. Switzerland and then Belgium is considerably easier, although Belgium is not to be treated lightly.

If they lose vs Nigeria, IMO their chances of winning the whole thing are slim.

The downplaying of La Albiceleste has now gone to the extreme. Sabella is a pragmatic, and result first coach. His NT record so far speaks for itself. Messi has also thrived under him (the same that can't be said about his predecessors). His football will not always be pleasing, and impressive, but he has a knack of grinding out results. He can get it wrong at times (like against Bosnia) but he has obtained results with his favoured 532 at both club and NT level. So don't be surprised if he bores the European powerhouse in to submission. :coffee:

And LOL @ losing to Nigeria.

5hs to go for his b-day here yet. But 27 already. Time flies too fast.

When you think about it though, he's entering the age where most great players begin to achieve their 'legendary' status.

Leo has already cemented himself in the top 3 players of all time, if not the greatest (which he is imo).

Happy Birthday to the GOAT! Looking forward to many more years.

Happy Birthday GOAT. Damn it feels like he has been in pro footy for 20+ years but he is just entering his prime. We are not worthy :worthy:
