Messi and Argentina will definitely play against Germany in the Quarterfinals.

Argentina will face Switzerland in the Round of 16 and Germany will either face Algeria or Russia. This is gonna be hard for them. Germany is so strong but Argentina will be extra motivated to avenge their 4-1 loss to them on the last World Cup.

That might happen if Argentina lost against Nigeria and qualified as 2nd of the group. A draw/win against Nigeria and Argentina will finish 1st in group F.

In this case:

Round 16: Switzerland or Ecuador
Quarter-Finals: Belgium or Ghana/USA/Portugal
Semi-Finals: Netherlands or Mexico or Costa Rica or IvoryCoast/Greece

Final: Brazil/Chile/Germany/France/Italy...

Happy birthday Messi. You are the GOAT and you will at least make the semis. Hopefully Messi can celebrate his birthday with a hat trick against Nigeria tomorrow. :worthy:

Happy birthday Messi! A little sad to see the greatest player of all time get older, but hopefully 27 is the age when Messi leads Argentina to the world cup title.

Why can't they win it?

All favourites kind of showed they are shaky at times, besides France, they bossed it. It can go either way.

Messi could be decisive. And only Argies have him.

Why not exactly? The only big team that looks better than the rest is holland and they struggled when Australia played on the counter, which Argentina is built to do, Germany, Brazil, Italy all look thoroughly susceptible.

France looks good but not unbeatable.

Not the best of defenses for Argentina, I'd love to see them win, but they seem to lack something here and there..

Anyway, Leo still has a lot of time left to shine:)
