Who´s talking about moving messi? We´re talking about taking Gago out and put on a real player than can give real intensity to the midfield duo.
A bit like Paulinho and Fernandinho.

The original front three with Messi in middle is what my comment was all about. Go back and read it.

I totally agree Perez is better than Gago.

Whenever I have seen him he looks more full of energy and a box to box player rather than someone that is clever in possession.

Dont think he is the answer for that at all, no one in team is better at Messi than that it would be absurd to move Messis position in team

I thought we were discussing Gago's position. I think Perez is clever , he knows how to advance the ball either with passing or with dribbling, gago can only pass the ball(at snail's pace) but he cant run with it. Most importantly Gago cant get back in time to help defend properly. He tried hard and worked hard today but that isnt his natural game .Hes just to slow for modern football and isn't outstanding enough technically to make up for the deficiency.

No, my comment was in response to someone playing Messi as middle in front three.

Nothing to do with Gago.

His quality in passing and finishing is still extremly high, but his pace is still not up to standard.
He doesnt make any breakthough dribbles anymore, he just lacks the pace to do it. He maybe manages to flick the ball past a defender, but he never outruns them.

Still, hes carrying this Argentina team.
someone please post a gif where he breezed through those two defenders with ease

Lionel Messi has created the most chances (18) and completed the most dribbles (24) so far in World Cup 2014

Very big match on Saturday. I think if Argentina can beat Belgium and get to the semis, people who watched will know Messi had a fantastic world cup regardless of if they lose. Obviously i want Messi to win it all but i feel history will look at it very differently between saying "Messi and Argentina knocked out in quarterfinals once again" vs "Messi singlehandedly drags Argentina to the semis".

hopefully history books record it as messi single handedly dragging arg to the semis.

I feel like leo can beat belgium by himself honestly, but if they face germany in the semis its really going to be hard

Argentina would only face Germany in the finals if both teams get there. They face Holland/Costa Rica in the semis if they can beat Belgium.

Brazil, Colombia, Germany and France are all in the other side of the bracket.

I am very nervous. It is going to be another nail-biter.

Of course I would love to see Messi getting the credit of single-handedly pulling Argentina to the semis, but I'd rather his teammates step up and do their fair share so collectively Argentina plays well so they can go even further.

I think when Belgium takes the game in charge and plays possession then Argentina is great. Both Belgium goals came from counters last night. Argentina goal was half counter.

Messi: "Assist? A lot happened in that action, I was about to take my chance but then Di Maria showed up and I decided to give him the ball"

Leo assist king!
