The 3rd clip of his pass to Di Maria against Belgium was the best pass of the world cup IMO. I still get owed of how he was able to see from his own half through a crowd of Belgian defenders and pass the ball with laser accuracy over to Di Maria. Simply AMAZING!

I noticed that. Hell, messi should have more than double of the total assists he has now to be honest. But im sure Suarez will reward his passing.

Could even be on the low end. Considering Messi since 06/07 which was the season he started playing a larger amount of games, he has played an average of 48 games per season since then, 8 seasons total. That would mean 73 chances missed per season, and a little over 1.5 chances missed per game.

Adding the chances converted, those stats would tell you Messi creates less than 2 chances per game which sounds very low. One could argue he creates way more than that just by simple eye test.

In fairness, the vast majority of all chances are missed, even by teams that are considered clinical. People screw up, and there is, after all, a goalkeeper to beat.

I think that the best compilations of Pirlo, Xavi, Iniesta passes would not lift up to this. When he turns 30 he might be our middle field star. However, we are so lucky to live in Messi's era

It actually sounds like above average finishing to be honest, or a reflection of the fact that the types of chances he creates are easier to take. The conversion rate there is 18%. As a comparison, top 5 leagues average conversion rate is 9-10%. But that also accounts for strikers of mediocre and bottom teams. A better comparison would be Messi himself, whose conversion rate fluctuates between 15-23% season to season and averages around 20%.

So actually not bad at all.
