imo, I think he's leaving after this season. There's no reason for him to stay, especially if Barca go trophyless again. Which most people think they will. Plus, the transfer ban, not looking good. He has no reason to trust the board.
Barcelona for Messi is like heaven, he doesn't need to do anything and the influence he has on the club is huge...he's won everything already, Barca fans call him a god...

He does what he wants. There's no greener pastures than Catalunya for Leo. Plus he's happy here.

he said nothing implying he wants to leave, though. As Mascherano said, the press distorted his words a lot. The guardian piece, for instance, looks just like another "news" to get hits.

spot on, a classic case was Mats Hummels who was quoted in several papers saying that he would think of leaving Dortmund if a 'so called bigger club' cam in for him, but in the full interview in world soccer magazine he actually said that Dortmund's style suited his style and if a so called bigger club came in for him then if he thought they wouldn't suit his style he wouldn't be interested. Even the simplest statements get twisted.

The guy brought us so much joy over the years. I follow Barca for about 20 years and although they always had spectacular players i can`t remember so much dominance. I won`t say he is the best ever for sure. There is Maradona, Pele, Cruyff...all of them were of similar level to Messi. But no one can dispute that his talent is one of a kind and for sure the best in last 20 years. Today with internet and everything it seems like people expect players to be robots and dominate literally every game they play. But they are human beings, with their problems and feelings. I can`t even imagine how much pressure Leo feels with the whole world expecting him to show godlike performance every game. Just think of World Cup with Argentina. He was one of their best players and they made it to the final. But after the tournament everybody was criticising him and for what? Because he didn`t take the ball and dribble past everyone and scored? Real life isn`t a video game.

Maybe I sound pathetic, I don`t know. I love football and follow it for over 20 years now and Leo is one of the best things that sport gave to us in its entire history. So #siempremessi

Even EPL clubs would do the same against Barca. They aren't going to play a high line against Messi, Suarez and Neymar.

Xavi said that Messi would be better if he moved to the PL, which means to a PL club. And Messi would have more space in any PL can he has at Barca..

Messi is also a winner. Winners you know, want to win things. Your delusional if you think Messi would happily sit around and watch Ronaldo win trophies and awards while Barca continue their downturn for the next couple of years.

With the elections coming close we are going to have new board, new ideas and I'm sure Messi would want to be part of it. If he wants to win things only RM is a guarantee and he's not moving there...

You're delusional if you think Messi cares about what Ronaldo does.

Besides, we will not keep struggling and this mess will be fixed. We still have best attack in the world and with a good plan you can even make mediocre players win stuff.

On a side note, Messi's won everything and now he's got only WC left and changing clubs surely won't help or can even make damage.

We have a much better squad than Atletico. Even compared to what they had last year.

If they can get to UCL finals, so can we.

Simeone is a fantastic coach; that was their strength. And unity.

We need to get our heads out of our asses. This squad is weaker than three-four years ago, sure. No one is doubting that.

But it's not like we have a second-rate SQUAD. We have weaknesses in specific areas. It means our chances to win things are smaller, not zero.

This is why you need your player to play at their best, which a lot of them aren't (Pique, Alves, Iniesta, Rakitic...).

And you need a coach who needs to be creative to maximize the team's potential, which he isn't.

Again, we're area basically 30% through the league. WE need to start making the run now.

And we are entering the knock out round in CL. No more ridiculously bad performances as a team .

Agreed on all accounts.

I am not downplaying our problems.

But merely the fact that we have no problems, save for those regarding transfers, that cannot be fixed.

There are obviously so many variables at work - and fixing them, really, will be extremely challenging.

I have no doubts we will do quite poorly on more than one occasion in the future, and it makes me sad.

He has a long contract. Barca hold all the cards. I think the question is more if the board want to sell, not if Messi wants to leave.

If Messi wants to leave he can every summer as there is always someone willing to pay the release clause in that contract. What is stopping this from happening is Messi turning it down. :)

You think someone is going to pay 200 million plus wages?
