Best midfielder around
he said messi never played/s with no motivation in big games, and that was me saying that it has happened.
unless you want to tell me that messi was motivated in those games.

For me, under the difficult circumstances that season, those are not valid examples at all. Collective failure and our team falling together like dominos. You can't blame our team and Messi for being unmotivated in such times, no matter how big of a game. There's probably a lot that went on behind the curtains too that season that we will never get to know.

It's not about blaming Messi. It's about staying true to what really happened. Someone said it never happened, and I and gasgas just pointed out that it did happen. Simple as that. Didn't discuss about whose fault it was or wasn't.

Barçapocalypse NOW!
Either way, he easily breezed past their defense whenever he wanted to, just that he didn't want to do it that often... The only thing you could nitpick is his finishing, and he still scored the important opening goal, soooo...

All i am saying here is that messi has been unmotivated in a big game before. full stop.
That's all i am saying.
whether it was his fault, the coach's fault that's not what i am talking about.
i haven't even blamed anybody

I loved his determination today and it ironically he seemd to me much more back to his usual form than the previous few games he played.

He was great v. Deportivo. He's getting better with each game which is the point. He should be back to his masterful self consistently after christmas break.

Nobody in the history of football has played at this GOAT level for as long as he has. For people to question his play and drive is pointless. Even at his best, he won't be unable to deliver every game. It's natural. What makes Messi great is his consistency. He will deliver the "majority" of the games he will play in. One bad game here and there doesn't mean he doesn't try. Great players have bad games. Even the GOAT like Messi. It happens.

It's like Michael Jordan never shot 40% in a playoff series or what?

i recall a few big games where he lookd lethargic and disinterested. season 2013-14
both CL QF games vs atletico, CDR final vs real madrid

Sometimes he shoots like a baby. very weak shots. so uncharacteristic
It's not uncharacteristic at all and it's not shooting like a baby. Sometimes he can't generate power as he has to hit the ball immediately and other times he deliberately looks to pass place the ball in the corner of the net with a soft but generally more accurate shot. When you hit it softer you can be more precise.

Look at his league winning goal vs atletico
