The only problem is that Messi himself wont want to rest.

Honestly I'm frustrated (and kind of pissed off) that he decided to run off to Argentina while injured and now he has worsened his injury.

If he gets the green light medically, he's going to demand to play.

in the copa del rey final 2015, was there a "El Dia Despues" for Messi wondergoal vs bilbao?? IIRC he got mad at certain ref calls or maybe fouls prior to the goal...or am I talking crazy? Anyways I cannot find the video.

Last time I checked the Ballon D'or is awarded based on a players performance over a calendar year. Messi won the Liga and Copa, whereas CR7 won the two more glamorous trophies in the CL and Euros, which ultimately will win him the award, undeservedly so I must add. Contrary to popular belief Messi has blown CR7 out the water in terms of stats as well this year, the discrepancy in number of assists in particular is astonishing. But as usual the Ballon D'or is all about reputation and winning the most watched competitions. Messi and Suarez both deserve to win the award over this poser.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the most overrated player ever, because he is good, but nowhere as good as they make him out to be.
Comparing him to Messi is like if, in the 70s, people tried to compare Gerd Muller to Cruijff, i.e. a total blasphemy football-wise, with the fact that nowadays is even worse because:

1) Cristiano Ronaldo is a far worse goalscorer than Gerd Muller.
2) Today Cruijff (which happens to be Messi) is a better goalscorer with a better goal ratio than the supposed goalscorer himself (Cristiano Ronaldo). On top of that, as Cruijff used to be compared to Muller, Messi is capable to do so many more things on a football pitch compared to Cristiano, things with the ball that the latter could never replicate even if he could use his fucking hands.

In regard of the comparison with Dybala, it's a no contest: please, Dybala is good, but Messi at his age was thrice the player he is and the gap in skills is huge, just see one game from Dybala and then go watch Messi again to easily understand the differences.
As Xavi said, there's no a new Messi around, not even close.

Nothing we can do. He gave so much to Barca it's hard to be pissed at him.
Good thing is, we probably don't need him in next round.

Then don't give him the medical green light.

Barça star Messi reveals why he decided to dye his hair blonde

The Argentina international took part in a relaxed interview while back in his homeland this week

Sport EN | 4.9.2016 | 21:13h.

Lionel Messi's explained, in a relaxed conversation with the popular Argentine actor Mingo, the reason for dying his hair earlier this summer.
"I made a change to start from zero. A lot had gone on, things had happened, and I said to myself: "I have to break this and start again,'" Barcelona's No.10 said.

Messi also spoke about the loss in Copa America final, which led to him announcing his international retirment at the time. "It was how I felt in that moment. Everything came crashing down. I felt like that [final] was the one, given how the team was and how we'd played in the competition. It was a huge disappointment," the forward added.

He has since reconsidered his decision and returned to the Argentina side and will be at the World Cup in Russia in 2018, as long as the Albiceleste qualify, and the Copa America in Brazil in 2019, giving him another shot at a trophy. So far success with his country has escaped him -- he's lost four finals.

Just think if messi hadnt shown loyalty to argentina and played for spain he would already have at least one world cup and 2 euro championships

Messi has got nothing serious but the player has been advised to take rest during season #fcblive [md]

If true, no rest for him.

Injury confirmed. No date set, it just says he'll need to train less and his evolution will determine when he can be back.
