Depends how long he plays. With Ronaldo you get the feeling that finishing with more goals than Messi is important to him and he might pull a romario to chase the highest total. But Messi doesnt care about it. I would not be surprised if he calls it quits in 4/5 years.

Ronaldo will want to beak every goal record going. Messi doesn't have that desire to. If he scores 1 he doesn't go all out for the hat trick like Penaldo. If the games won he'll usually let someone else take the pen.

I agree which is why Ronaldo will likely finish about Messi but theres nothing to suggest that both won't break 757. Its 203 goals for Messi. 40 goals for 5 seasons, 20 goals for 10 seasons.

They will both break that record unles some "awfull" injury interferes... but I do think Messi will go above him... he has more years to play.

As Messi gets older, he is going to retreat deeper and deeper into midfield until he eventually becomes the Xavi/Pirlo of the team. In that case the goals will most likely dry up however I still expect him to make a huge amount of assists because Messi is an exceptional midfielder.

I guess the only question that needs to be asked is how long does he want to play for Barcelona. He has crazy mad skills so he can play the game at the highest level for much longer than Ronaldo - albeit in a different role in which he wont score much goals.

Ronaldo on the other hand will most certainly go to the USA where he will continue to bag about 25+ goals a season.

I personally hope that Messi does not care about the goal tally issue. He has grown on me as a fan and I hope that he stays here for as long as possible.

I don't think Messi will become Xavi/Pirlo type of midfielder, not that he does not have the vision and ability, he does. He does. It have the work rate.

Those stats only prove one more time that Messi and Neymar are the two most influential players right now. And I'd rather put Suarez at no3 than Ronaldo.
