To be honest, I d not like to see Messi play as a playmaker though! Maybe m different but I value his goal scoring ability the most n we need a quality midfield for him to make the most use out of it

Its probably more out of necessity that he has to drop deep and create because the midfield seems incapable to create anything.

A better team will open up more opportunities. He is still a sick finisher, so the goals will still come to him.

The midfield offer nothing to the front three.

Rarely give them the ball early, rarely open up the opponents defence, rarely get up to support them and overload areas.

They pass the ball safe until Messi drops deep than allow him to try and open up the opposition.

Just far too one dimensional and easy to stop.

Messi was solid but Juve closed him down great. And with others uninspired it was all up to him to pull a rabbit out of a hat. And he did it but Iniesta, Suarez and Umtiti were denied or narrowly missed.

Best player by a mile. The rest didn't show up. Iniesta and Suarez both missed SITTERS! That's not Messis fault if the other players can't finish easy chances!

Not in the greatest shape, but head and shoulders above the rest today. he really took it upon him when the rest trembled in fear and cowardness. Credit where it's due, had the chances been converted we would have gone to the second leg with some hope. Only player today that Juventus could't get near .. And to say that about a player who plays far below his potential that says alot about Messi.

Best player on the pitch for us by a fucking mile: incredible passess (the first one was stunning, absolutely jaw dropping) and good dribbling (he almost always managed to evade Juve players), too bad that his teammates awfully let him down.

I keep saying it Messi must play RW. We won everything in 2015 with him playing on RW. Last year Suarez scored 60 goales with messi playing mostly on RW, now he plays simply way too deep, and Suarez is totally isolated upfront, and it doesnt help that neymar tries to get as many touches as messi. RW is a must thats how we destroyed all the teams granted our midfield is crap but even more we need him on RW

Messi has pace. And brutal acceleration. He just doesn't use it. Look at Argentina games, every game he has dribbles against 2+ players.
