This only works in sports where you can't control anything as you're a mere fan, but if you apply this same attitude to other parts of your life I got some bad news...

I would have to agree, i only joined the conversation in cheek. I don't consider myself a pessimist, in fact i enjoy seeing hope in bad situations. I actually wrote I expect our players to be more competitive now, and expect a good season as a result of our failures. It's all good.

same, would even go so far as to think losing the supercopa might do us more good than harm.

He really needs the world cup to create some distance between him and CR. At the rate everything is going (with the way our squad looks compared to RM's), it's very possible that CR could surpass Messi in Balon D'Ors and international trophies. Very unfortunate that Argentina choked out in consecutive Copa America's and the WC. That was perhaps Messi's best chance to cement his legacy.

There is no distance between the two players.. not even three more ballon d ors in ronaldo's name would make me draw comparaisons.. unless by distance yall mean general opinion and general consensus. Pesonally i dont give a damn about public opinion. I watched their whole career and i know who is the best player i have seen. Yall just worying yourselves with meaningless stuff. We watch football for our own joy, perception and opinions not others.

He should have left barcelona. It would be better for him and for us. Had he gone to Bayern last summer, we wouldnt win shit (like we didnt this year) but then again Im sure Real.wouldnt repeat either.

I think this is all good for Messi. Next season will be re-vindication for him and knowing his competitive spirit he will be nothing but focused and deadly. As for our team, new coach, new playing style and let's hope new signings and we can start to feel like a team that's whole again. Last part being the most important. But I'm not worried as far as Messi goes, he will come back strong as ever. The greatest players' greatest assets have always being their mentality. We have 3 Clasicos coming up, be prepared because next season will be a ride. I expect Neymar to also be at his best, along with the rest of our team. It's on now.
He was focused and deadly this year as well, but when 80% of your team is below levep required for big stuff (CL) then therr is not much he can do over course of season.

Bayern? This one reminds me of Cleveland and GS and Lebron and Curry. Where LBJ is clearly best in the world, but his team, while great is no match for GSW.

His legacy has been tarnished and ruined, it's a sad day for me and I believe it is a sad day for who loves football as a sport.

I feel bad inside to think that Cristiano Ronaldo will be (and already is) remembered as the best footballer of this generation in font of Leo: it's totally untrue, I know it, and everybody who is honest knows it, but to say that this is not happening worldwide, between the media and the average football fans (who, sadly, are the majority of the opinion) is to fool ourselves.

For what he has done and for the level of sheer class and talent that Leo brought to the football pitch it is an insult and an utter offense, I know it, but it's happening.

What a shame, for real. Nothing else to say.

Nobody in their right mind would consider CR to be a better footballer than Leo. When it's all said and done people will look back at their careers and remember Messi as the GOAT and Ronaldo as a great player in his own right. The difference is quality is just too much for any rational football fan to deny Messi is better. Forget about the fickle fanboys on Twitter and the casuals who only watch big PL matches and the CL knockout rounds.

Messi doesn't need to prove to anyone he is the best anymore, he has done it for 10 years already. If Messi comes back and wins another CL or WC the fickle 'what have you done for me lately' fans will come out of the woodwork and say Messi is the best again.

It really doesn't matter at the end of the day who win the social media battle, Messi is the best and I really don't care what anyone else says.

In future, people will look at stats & Ballon d'Ors to claim that Cristiano Ronaldo was on the same level as prime Messi.

Unfortunately, that's the narrative most pundits, media and casuals will push for once when both of them have retired from the game.

The sad part is that this iteration of CR7 is the worst yet, it's just now that he has a world class team around him handing him goals and trophies on a silver platter.

This is the era of youtube, anyone that watches a couple videos will quickly understand why Messi is better.

It's incredibly hard to make a case for Messi over Ronaldo right now. Can't say this about many people but Ronaldo's enourmous ego is probably his greatest strength, he goes out every game trying to be the best (by getting in position to score the most goals) because he knows at this stage of his career that's all he pretty much good for and in this era of football all fans seem to care about are scoring goals. Ronaldo's eagerness to be the main scorer could be detrimental to his team at time but his teammates are so good it really doesn't effect them much.

To sort of end this tangent, if Messi had that attitude/ego, I think he'd be a better player (if that's even possible) and we'd probably be a better "team" as well. For example, Messi coasted the pichichi this season without any hattricks, i think that tells us quite a lot, he's starts coasting a bit after we go up a few goals. Going to need him to take all penalties next season, stop giving them to Neymar and Suarez, it's not like they're good at them anyways.

Please board, be competent this window and give this guy the players he deserves to play around, still think we have a few amazing Messi years, just do your jobs.
