Messi has recurring muscle problems throughout his career, he is not the type of physical beast Luis Suarez or the Real Madrid forwards are. You must have read how Barca took care of his physical problems early in his life. If he ran the whole pitch like Jordi Alba does, I believe his career would have come to an end by now, caused by muscle pain and injuries.
