He looked much better against Celta than his average in previous months. He also ran more, but still, he was specifically rested for this game and still only covered about 70% of the distance Aspas did (who is the same age).
I don't mind so much that he wants other players to creat or that his defensive effort is limited, but I do believe that when he's involved in more plays (for lack of a better word), the things he tries generally work out more, too. I think this comes down to overthinking and anxiety, something we know he can be prone to. When he's not involved in much general play, he really wants to make it count when he finally gets the ball. He forces it. He picks passes for runs that aren't timed well and then executes those passes way worse than two/three years ago. When he's in front of goal, he's sometimes hesitant and overthinking the finish.
My point is, that I think when he generally runs more and is involved in more, that's when things start to flow more naturally and that's when he trusts his instincts because he doesn't think too much about the specific situation he's in.
