10 - Lionel Messi - v5

Turan wasn't mark because they were all on Leo ! what the fuck seriously? ugly and boring match. Of course we won, It was expected, but that way? Ridiculous.

Gppd for Ardan anyway, he didn't celebrated, it would have been embarassing.

I'm sad for Leo. He clearly wanted to break that record and I wanted him to as well.

I have to say I do find it depressing that it's Leo that needs to create SO MUCH for the team nowadays. It used to be Xavi, Iniesta, Dani etc that used to be able to create for him. Iniesta still does, but it's not the same as it used to be.

That being said, I would like to give a huge fuck you to 2016 and wish Leo much better in 2017.

I just hope that this kind of matches won`t haunt him later in the season, when the body accumulates stress from training and matches. It`s much more important that he stays healthy and fresh for the second part of the season. Who cares about CL group stage record.

You can`t play a whole season in top physical condition, especially as you get older. Every athlete has a peak and then has to slow down and recuperate, before starting a new cycle. I hope he won`t run himself to the ground before important games.

That record is not very relevant, i'm more sad for the overall record that he could break with one or two more goles, now it's not gonna happen with our lucky with draws .

Most people here clearly care about that because they still want to compare him to CR in everything and because they think that would influence on Balon D'or votes (it won't because it's already decided since Euro that CR will win it this year and Messi is smart enough to know that). I don't and I don't think Messi himself does either. Yes, he was motivated yesterday at the start of the game but I don't believe it was because he really wanted that group stage goals record so bad (question is if he really knows about that "record" anyway). I think he's great enough to score 2 or 3 goals whenever he wants but when he goes on that personal record hunt (he did that more in earlier parts of his career when he was still playing as false 9 but not as much lately) then he usually don't get those goals. He usually scores them when he plays with ease and don't think about them.

He had that one great chance after Digne cross when Sommer saved fantastically but I think he didn't really play as much for his own record than for the team to finally win and give us some confidence after poor run of results lately. When the game was won after 2-0 I think he started to save his energy for more important games.

Voting for the ballon d'or is already closed.

He deserves so much more than this.

He didn't get blessed with two games against Malmo either, or the easiest tie in every round that Real get every single year.

Barçapocalypse NOW!
He looked lively.
Would have preferred if he was subbed but one can't really complain much when it comes to Messi

How do you compare him to El Clásico? I also noticed him more involved and determined against Gladbach and in the CL in general, could it be that he really wants the CL this year?

Unless if rm win la liga. Then, suddenly you'd realize it matters. This narrative is created by the press.

I know. But if voting was still open it wouldn't help Messi if he'd score 10 goals yesterday. Ballon D'or winner was decided at the moment when Ronaldo "coached" Portugal to win Euro final. That was my point.
