Hope we wrap it up quickly. Should have been done much earlier but I suppose we had to wait for new sponsors to arrive.

I know. But if voting was still open it wouldn't help Messi if he'd score 10 goals yesterday. Ballon D'or winner was decided at the moment when Ronaldo "coached" Portugal to win Euro final. That was my point.
Most people here clearly care about that because they think that would influence on Balon D'or votes (it won't because it's already decided since Euro that CR will win it this year and Messi is smart enough to know that). I don't and I don't think Messi himself does either.

I have a really bad idea about giving Mega contracts to players in their thirties .. if it were anyone but Messi i woulda been mad about it .. Ronney , shevshenko , Raul all played like shit when they were given fat contracts in their thirties .. in contrast i loved what chealsea did with Terry, a year by year extentions, which helped getting the best of him .. now we about to offer Messi and Suarez megacontratcs that would make them really relaxed , because they will think about retirement already .. Now Messi , he deserves it ( i said that reluctantly ) , but for suarez , imagine if we offer him 5 years contract , and he plays like shit , one may say , he would b our new larsson , but Larson was not getting 15 Millions a year

Seeing all these heatmaps and stuff I saw that he plays pure false 9 position, but, there is always stiker in front of him, whether it's Paco or Luis. When we play like that we are basically one man short.
Something has got to change, either Suarez moves to right and leaves Leo alone or either Leo moves back to right where he started his career.
If we decide to play Messi in F9 then Suarez on right would make no sense because he is not kind of player that can play there. Hard-working winger is needed than, somebody like Pedro. On the other side, Neymar would also make problems with his defensive habits.

So you are actually want to dismantle the MSN.
Nice... The sooner the better?

I don't know if it's Leo or Lucho coming up with this, but it seems like the plan on paper is to have Messi dance around in the false nine looking for small pockets of space to receive the ball in, and then just do something that converts the oppositions imbalance to a good chance. It's not about Messi being lazy, but sometimes he looks like he's trying to discover the theoretical limit to the ratio between utility and work. A fancy way of saying that he's trying find ways to keep up his ridiculous offensive contribution by doing least possible amount of work. This involves a number of things like 1) compromizing the safety of the ball at his feet when he spends extra effort searching for the absolute genius pass. 2) Running at the minimal adequate speed that will get him past the opponent. I refuse to believe that he reaches full speed at least once each game. He's a master in anticipating how to get past opponents and thus if he sees that he might just squeeze past someone without sprinting 100%, he will do it. I do believe that muscle injuries play a part here to, but the weird thing is how his workrate varies so much. We see him busting his ass off against Sevilla and then jogging around in El Clasico.

I want him at his best, but if he keeps playing like this, he won't put big teams on their asses anymore. As soon as the tactics begins to reflect that, the team will incorporate him as a talisman without being the key to everything and we can be on our way to building something new.

that's about the best post i have ever read in Messi's thread, and i have read hundreds. barca fans loose touch with reality when it comes to evaluate what messi is doing. but as you said , the way he is playing , it's like he either 1- pull out those magical omg moments and it would be another masteclass 2- he don't pull it out , and the team has to pay for his low workrate .. the problem is the abscence of the " between"

Nobody cares about la liga when it comes to Ballon dor

UEFA, euro, copa america, worldcup are all that matters

If that was the case, then Messi shouldn't have any Ballon dors.
Face it, it's just a popularity contest between Messi and Ronaldo.
Messi never won anything with the NT and Portugal only won when Ronaldo was out injured, but Ronaldo still takes all the credit because apparently he took over the coaching responsibilities after his injury and willed the team to victory.

Just like Suárez, Messi had a lot of chances that he wasted against Osasuna during the 1st half.

Expects a better 2nd half from him.

That pass to Suarez, tho. :worthy:

Wasteful 1st half, but other than that he was great. Dribbling them into the ground at times.
It's worse with Suarez who can't do shit this season.

He wasn't great. Ok-ish at best. 2 clear chances, he should had converted at least one. This is osasuna. They're not pressing, just ball watching and defending.

Well, he created the first goal and just scored one himself now. So all good in the end. Both him and Suarez should've put the game to bed earlier, tho.

If this was a CL game this season, he would've had 3 goals if not more today.
