Thats the contract from june that he didn't actually sign.
Messi is a criminal. Nothing new
Just enjoy his football and move on
105m is his reported salary before tax (salary, image right + signing bonus), there is no funneling of 7,5m through his foundation, there was also a bonus of 23m which more or less would cover what Messi had to pay to regularise taxes around his foundation
He can ask as much salary as he likes and if Barca is willing to pay that + taxes it's all good. After all, Messi and Barca go very much hand in hand and 100m is nothing compared to the revenue and popularity that Messi brings.
The problem arises when talking about his foundation. I'm not sure sure if Messi holds any power within the foundation or is it just his name on the foundation. Someone could look it up. But essentially Barca has paid a part of Messi's salary via his foundation because the taxes are much lower. 7,5-8,5m euros seems to be the amount. Barca made a really smart move by bringing the tax specialist in, without him shit would have gone down but they managed to correct the tax amount paid before it could be considered a crime.
So it actually is before taxes? That makes it much more reasonable and aligned with his net salary + bonuses figures + image rights figures.
My mistake was assuming it was post-tax, and that sports contracts work differently in Europe. In the States athletes contract figures must be public and it's illegal to pay more than what was stated. In football it seems like whatever knowledge we have of contracts is simply through the media and isn't necessarily public or mandated to be. So yah, Barca can pay as much as they want as long as taxes are paid and we the public don't need to know about it.
So we are safe right?

I just hope that his father hasn't expolited charity for profit. If there was no payouts from the charity accounts, they can prove nothing. But if there were some, his legacy will be seriously stained, even if his father takes one for the team and admits that all of this shit was his work.
FC Barcelona didn't to anything wrong. If this is much worse than expected then it's on the Messi family. Barca just donated money to the Leo Messi Foundation but it's up to them how they use it.
Looks like they tried at least.
