You know as ridiculous as this friendly was, it was kind of worth it to make that kids dream come true.

Wonderful young lad. Hope Leo stays in touch with him.

People forget that ballon d'or is offered by a company , lucrative one " magazine " .. the mass appeal is a real factor. there are several factors taken into consideration and actual football is just one, when football should be the only factor ( ideal world)

It is one of the few awards with history though. Aside from purely statistical awards, most soccer awards are barely 30 years old. I know the FWA is older but I cant think of many others from top leagues old enough to have been won by guys like Stanley Mathews.

I just watched the video of Murtaza meeting Messi with some of my co-workers. What a beautiful moment, we all couldn't stop smiling and laughing. Specially the moment when the referee tells him to leave the pitch and he runs to Messi and joins the team. He wouldn't leave him until they had to take him away. Such a positive young kid. All the best to him.

Press from Argentina saying he and Anto will get married next June in Rosario, and the whole Barça squad, plus some ex-players, will attend.

Saw photos of Messi with the Afghan kid. Made me emotional. It feels good to have a player like him. Talent and great personality.

A Croatian journalist who writes always about Spanish league says that Messi will sign a new contract worth 35 M per year (in the first year) and it will grow to 40 M in upcoming few years (wage will be higher in each new year).

Also, a journalist says that since Barca signed expensive extensions with MSN now, that we will have very limited amounts of money to spend both in winter and next summer.
Basically, new wages will "eat" majority of potential transfer money.

Papers say that even Barto is not too happy about how high wages MSN have currently.
(I know, people will say: they will leave if we don't give them high wages, but still...)

The original source of this is As, so it's better to wait and see. There was already a similar news back in the day, with similar values, and it was bs. As is a crappy source for Barça news. They also lied about neymar's and suarez's wages.

But do they really need wages that high? We saw from CR7 income list that 90% of his incomes are from endorsment deals and that his salary which is super high for football standards is nothing in comparison to his other incomes.

I imagine its the same for Messi and Neymar, not sure about Suarez tough ....

In NBA star players take a pay cut (not Kobe  ) so the team can bring in quality players for them to play with.

If Messi is going to get 30 + million a year what will that do to team chemistry? New players will look at that see the breadcrumbs they are getting and tell themselves "well for the money he is being payed he can run a little bit more and play defense so i dont have to do that for him while getting 4 milion a year".

Its a slippery slope.

Would be interesting if a bigger portion of the salary pie [for all players] was performance based.,. Also, strategically, you'd wanna have strong, motivated teammates as this would translate in more wins and by extension, better chances for endorsement windfalls. So basically, lower salary but greater sponsorship earnings...
Anyhoo, with the Rakuten deal, there should be plenty of mullah to spread the lova yeah :rap:
