He has 58-61 by now depending on how you look at it. 2 of his freekicks were indirect freekicks in the box. Bu definition thats a field goal. The other one is that pepe goal only Marca counts.

Juninho is the king with 76 as you mentioned. Beckham is also up there with 65. Ronnie must have over 60 too.

Messi is good but not great at them. Some of them should be going to others.

Overall he will add plenty more in the years to come. Maybe he ends with a juninho type number in the end.
Another contender for goat freekick taker is Zico with 100+ which Messi wont reach.
At barca we have been lucky with great freekick takers like Koeman and Dinho. Ronaldo also has like 60 freekick goals. He is a joke sometimes because of his terrible conversion rate but the number scored is still very high.

Messi’s conversion rate is so terrible because he takes all the free kicks. Even those he has no business taking on the left side. But yeah, he is not awfully great at them in general but when his eye is in he goes through periods where it looks like he’ll score all of them.
