Been a couple of months since first noticing it but Messi is still progressing towards leading the first ever La Liga Invincibles team while being top scorer/assister/dribbler/chance creator in La Liga (knocked on wood). That achievement is at least as good as a CL and more special/unique in its own ways, certainly one of the GOAT league seasons if not the best. If we have a poor CL campaign it could taint this *potential* achievement but no matter what it would be utterly legendary.
If it goes down this way then Messi's immortal team accomplishments would include:
- at least 4 CL's
- 2 trebles
-1 invincibles season
- 3 consecutive international cup finals
- >>30 total trophies.
Individually he'll definitely end up with:
-La Liga all time scorer/assister
-Clasico all time scorer/assister
-highest ever goalscoring calendar year and season
-most assists in a season all comps
-most FK goals in La Liga history
Depending on the longevity of his prime he could end up with:
-CL all time goalscorer (possible, not all that likely)
-CL all time assister (I think this is likely)
-pass Romario for most official goals ever aside from Bican (I think he'll for sure be around Pele's tally, decent chance he could pass Romario)
And he could still win more CL's and Ligas, as well as have one last attempt at the WC this summer. This is Gretzky/Phelps/Jordan levels of ridiculous dominance and Messi, being the savant he is, absolutely belongs in this class of GOAT. Not even a man anymore, just a symbol of perfection.
