A one month tournament held once every 4 years and that probably hasn't been the highest football-level of the sport (top club teams play at a far higher level) for 2 decades probably shouldn't determine anything really.

the problem for hardcore Messi fans vs hardcore Ronaldo fans is that Messi doesn't give a shit about this debate. he'd be happy to assist 3 tomorrow night as much as he would scoring a hattrick, hes just not obsessed individually like Ronaldo.

He will and he doesn't need a bicycle kick to prove it. His influence on the game is enough, the GOAT has said it time over time that individual awards are no longer his goal anymore. The fact is: it was a good goal and great for Ronaldo. But I will still appreciate Messi and Barca for who he is and who we are. Time to stop comparing and reach for the end goal: the treble!
