Just because one is a favorite doesn't mean that they are 100% guaranteed to win. Not a lot of people expected Portugal to win the Euro 2016 or that Roma will beat us after we have a 4-1 lead. Argentina has a slim chance compared to the other favorites, but it's still a possibility and that doesn't mean that he should/will give up on it. As I said before, this is his only chance to win the World cup in his prime while he'll have other opportunities to win the Golden Boot and I'm betting that he'll work on the former with Sampaoli.
Look at the defense that Portugal had mate . Freaking Pepe was having a tournament of his life . Don't get me wrong he pulled off a Vanbasten 1988 in defense during that tourny . Argentina's defense is horrendous . Players like Isco and Asensio will have fun playing against them . Poor Messi will be isolated upfront without getting Services . World cup 2010 all over again . I can see a quarter final humiliation awaiting them

Otamendi is a good defender on his day and Argentina does have some decent defenders in Fazio and Tagliafico. I'm more concerned about the selection of the midfield players but that's another story. Obviously the players are not as good as Spain's and Germany's but it's still decent and with the right tactics, luck and having a player like Messi, they can just fluke it like Chelsea did in 2012. That's still a small chance, but knowing Messi as the person I see him, I think he'll want to increase those odds as much as possible even with the possibility of getting humiliated in the quater finals (or earlier). This is just my opinion anyways but that's what I think he'll do.

Guys...
Still discussing the CL? Come on it's over.

You do realize that we're the only club to win trebles right?
You do realize that we're on our transition time right?
You do realize that trebles are normally won every ten years or so, except for the past two decades.... Right?
You do realize RM has never won before right ?

Next year, we'll have our midfield further strengthen, which would lighten Messi's job. Also, next year, don't think treble. Think CL. Every other ones is just bonus, as we already won too many of them, lately.

Man Utd won the Treble in 1999, long before Barca did.

Yup. It's what I meant.

Probably in EV mind, it would be cool if he could bring Barca secure something which "the biggest" club in the world can't achieve even ONCE along its history, for the THIRD time, in his FIRST season as a coach.

At that time, he was afraid of losing the pace as league still had many games left. Then came the part where he over thought things and due to our huge lead, decided to go more Chelsea like. Which didn't work well. With the same approach of strategy, though, Barca could have different outcome with a more rested squad (wrongly arranged players for leganes game), and a tad better strategy.

Note that my last statement above is just assumption and has seriously high risk of "it's not what happened". He's a professional coach and know a lot more than us lol. Still, it might be one.

Ev isn't that Bad, under Tata for example we won NOTHING and we had Neymar. At least we'll have Liga and maybe invincibles and the copa, so compared to tata he's good. With Neymar's departure I think Ev has handled it well and of course had to be more pragmatic in the play when you lose a player like that

semi OT, Biglia is out for rest of the season and could miss WC for serious back injury. Now watch Argentina playing with barely movement player in Russian :VdB:

This day last year , " Lionel Messi has just exploded La liga in to life " . what a individual performance that was . Destroyed cuntmiro and Goalkeeper Carvajal in to shreds . Forced Zizou to sub Casemiro off , else he would have been send off . Shame we couldn't win the league . Would have been one of the iconic images in liga history . Still it is . Our midfield was a mess last season, still Messi dragged us from Gargantua to the top of horizon

Irrelevant, Barca won the battle but RM won the war. Winning back to back CL is just remarkable and even the greatest club side ever from 2008-2013 couldn't do it. Don't forget that those Barca sides were playing against ten man Chelsea and inter when they were going for the back to back CL. No excuses.

Easy to go back to back in the CL when the referees and linesmen are on your side

yet nobody considers this Madrid team the greatest team of all time like Peps Barca and even 3 in a row CL's won't change that. Inter and Chelsea along with United were a force back when we were trying for 2 in a row, Bayern were also better with Robben/Ribery in their prime
