Yes, he will - no matter how many CL's Ronaldo win. If you watch those two play and comes to any other conclusion than Messi is the better player, you are biased, no matter how many trophies are between them (one or the other way).

i've been thinking about this for a long time and i don't think we're gonna win CL title anytime soon,even with messi in the squad. we simply don't look like contenders past few years and i doubt that will magically change next couple of years

I think CR performance means that he will have to do much, much better (influential) than Messi on WC stage to even be considered at this point. With Salah out of the running, Messi needs to carry ARG with some Messi-esque performances past groups and it's a lock...

Barca will probably win a CL title with Coutinho, Griezmann, Dembele etc...playing in the CL. We surely won't be favourites, but it will likely happen at some point in the future.
The new spine of the team looks solid. Just need to build around it and come up with a good system.
Don't trust that will come with EV though.

I am a long time hater of Copa Del rey.
I can't shake off a feeling that CDR is guilty year after year for our team being dead tired in CL's quarters.
I checked stats now:

Messi played 19 matches from a New Year until CL's quarters.
19 matches in 63 days.
Roughly: 1 match each 3 days.
Of course that he was dead tired in a key moment of a season.
CR7 played only 13 matches from a New Year until CL's quarters.
That is 13 matches in 63 days.
Roughly: 1 match each 5 days.
** Ok, CR7 did play two more NT matches, but those are not RM's matches...
With NT matches, that is 1 match each 4 days.
So, Messi was way more tired when we entered CL's quarters.
The same with Busi, Raki, Suarez etc and all our starters.
The 2nd thing is, look how much Messi and CR7 were resting before key matches:
Messi:
Before Roma: 4 days, playing 32 minutes
Before Roma2: 3 days, playing 90 minutes, lol
CR7:
Before Juventus: 7 days, playing 68 minutes
Before Juventus2: 3 days, playing 64 minutes
Before Bayern: 7 days
Before Bayern2: 7 days (no matches in between)
Before Liverpool: 7 days, playing 62 minutes
So, in short:
1. Real doesn't play CDR (smart guys)
2. CR7 doesn't play in CDR matches (a smart guy)
3. CR7 is fresh in March and April (only 13 matches in 63 days)
4. Messi is dead tired in March with 19 matches behind him
5. CR7 is resting usually for 7 days before key CL matches
6. Messi needs to play every fucking Mickey Mouse match 3 days before CL matches
7. CR7, even when he plays before CL matches, he plays for 60 minutes and is saving himself
8. Messi, on the other hand, is playing with 120% before CL matches in matches against mighty Getafe, Levante and in CDR matches
So, one day, when CR7 will have 7-8 Ballon D Ors and 10 Champions league titles, Messi and our coaching stuff will be able to reply:
"But we won CDR! And we won against Leganes 3:1 three days before a CL's quarters, that is MORE important!"

This shows how skills alone are not enough.
You need to have some brains, logic and good long term planning.
Messi has more skills.
Real and CR7 have more IQ and better planning in everything:

Yes, we should honestly not give a crap about CDR from next season. Play our subs and La Masia players. If they make it far then great. It also gives them match practice and helps them come up to terms with what it is to play for Barca. Perhaps we'll be able to sort out which players we can rely on further too.
League + CL please. No important first team player should play in the CDR until the SF or final.
Even Puyol said the same. League and CL should be the focus, not CDR.

Real do play the Copa.
Not true to say they dont and the Barca players were not knackered.
Messi barely seems to accept being rested. Ronaldo does.
More about resting in league games if anything and Real were in a position with nothing but CL to play for.
