Ronaldo goes missing in most finals, knocks in a Penaldo at some point and steals the headlines (usually after being bailed out by Ramos or Bale).

It’s not just that in 15/16 he scored a hat trick against Wolfsburg in the quarter finals for fuck sake. Nothing against Man City in the semi finals and nothing in the final either.

In 16/17 he absolutely murdered every team he came up against. He go lucky with the calls against Bayern though.

In 17/18 he scored 3 against Juventus in the quarter final including a penalty. Nothing against Bayern in the semi final and nothing in the final either.

So other than 16/17... There is no empirical evidence that he has better big match temperament than Messi.

Oh ffs stop that debate already. Its stupid, i dont care what people say or think, if they enjoy dive fest, tap-ins, nothing magical really then let them have it. I enjoy messi's football and thats it. Simple things in life makes you happy, and watching messi playing is one of those things, drinking beer and enjoying some good football. Relax people

It's almost as if the debate isn't about which player you enjoy watching more

Needs to bring his A game tomorrow or Argentina will be going home before the knockout rounds. I think he'd be better off playing as a RW with Dybala in the middle but it is what it is.

Either way I expect Leo to deliver tomorrow or at the very least give a good account of himself.

They can lose tomorrow and beat Nigeria in last game and will still go through most likely.

All that matters is that he scores.

They would get in each other's way too much because Messi would drift infield from the right while Dybala would drift to the right from the center because he's more comfortable there.

Best way for them to play together imo would be Messi as a RW or RAM and Dybala LW or LAM in a 433 or 343.

This post says more about 'the modern world' than any of those people celebrating Ronaldos goals.

This is exactly something that the people of the 'modern world' would reply. Take a good selfie/party/adventure/ass picture of the moment with most popular hashtags and wait for the response. I feel sorry for you

Brilliant article by the guardian on Messi: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jun/20/lionel-messi-sun-king-argentina-blind-world-cup

According to the article Messi ran 7,6km, less than any other outfield player.

He ran 1,42km off the ball, less than Lloris who is a goalkeeper.

He made 17 sprints, half as many as Philippe Coutinho and Mesut Ozil in their opening games.

His top speed was 25 kph, slower than Iniesta or Busquets. In comparison Ronaldo's was 33 kph.

Messi has to seriously change his way of playing because that's shocking.

This mental strength crap again

Going to quote myself

Yep. People shouldn't fall for it and argue on actual football grounds imo. I have actually seen people try and downplay dribbling to make Ronaldo look better.

Things are much simpler when all you have to is wait for service instead of do everything. Anyway it's not even true that he's weaker mentally btw.

Yeah he's had Champions league success but you have to add how badly they've done in the league for the past 10 years.

For the national teams, the pressure and expectation for Messi compared to Ronaldo is incomparable. Everything is expected of Messi. I guarantee Ronaldo with his ego, would not cope if their scenarios were swapped

What Messi would give if he could swap all his footballing attributes for good movement (ahem) and ummm heading and being tall.

He would literally have to make himself a worse player.

No he doesn't have to change his play in this regard. This running thing has constantly been put forward in the past and is consistently proven wrong. It's almost as if when it comes to energy expenditure Messi knows what he's doing. Anyway are these speeds with or without the ball?
