Leo is now stuck in eternity(for us), like gandalf was. When he comes back he would be no longer messi the grey, but messi the white

So would I and he would probably have to go back and play one or two friendlies before it. I would rather see him play one game against Mexico this month than go back in March when our schedule might be tougher

agree, but I think he's going to be in the March friendlies. I looked at the games after March international friendlies (hopefully the friendlies take place in Europe) and these are the following games:

vs Espanyol home (3/31)
vs Villareal away (4/3)
vs Atletico Madrid home (4/7)
vs potential 1st leg CL QF (4/9,4/10)
vs Huesca away (4/14)
vs potential 2nd leg CL QF (4/16,4/17)

If I were EV, I would rest Messi in Espanyol at home as we usually do well against them at the Camp Nou. Play him the next three games and then rest him vs Huesca away. The key for me is to rest him in the Copa del Rey games until the final. With the squad we have, we should only play him in the majority of La Liga games and CL matches.

How come they play these copas so often? Thought it was one off thing because reasons.

2019 is normal, 2020 is because they want to make it on even years, to go alongside the euro's, and every 4 years from there, so 2024 would be next one after 2020.

Messi is above a marketing award like Ballon d'Or. What he needs to do is to pace himself in order to be fresh and give the required effort in the big games, like's done in CL so far. Everything else is irrelevant.
