I can't believe he stopped chipping keepers. It's his signature finish and he doesn't do it anymore.

Today that 1 vs 1 was basically begging for a Messi chip.

FFS.

he used to full steam lace it a lot more years back, too. had a fierce fastball in his locker. last one of those he scored that I remember was against Atleti in the cup a few years back. nowadays he's all about the instep accuracy. doesn't hurt to mix it up once in a while, Leo.

And la liga gets the preveilege of a player scoring 400 goals in it, making it the only league in an European league to do so, in the exception of Czech league I think.. or Hungary and Czech ??

That was his worst game in awhile, his passing was off, but i dont mind if someone(suarez was beast) steps up ocassionally. Looks good from team point of view that messi had a bad game and we still won by 3 goal margin. I like that, save that energy leo

Are you talking about the 1 v 1 where Suarez laid the ball back to him?

Indeed.

5:25 at this video below.

There is no way he wouldn't have lobbed the keeper a few years ago.

Maybe but his lobs came more when he was running with the ball towards the keeper. So I'm not sure he has given them up. Just have to wait for a proper 1 v 1 to see

good point, he hardly ever gets in the same positions where he used to lob the keeper from.

Read somewhere that Marca have Messi on 399. They have one of his goals against bilbao down as an own goal. I remember the ball was going in and amorbieta just sped up the process. I'm fairly sure Marca gave Ronaldo a goal that came off pepes back

Messi is primed to pass Pele's goal tally. 100 goals in all competitions left to pass him and he has plenty of years to do it. IMO if he stays healthy and plays till around 37-38 I think he'll probably pass Bican too, which is absurd. He's taking goalscoring records from the 30's-70's, every single era, and just shattering them.

Ronaldo has a chance to pass both Pele and Bican as well but Messi has a much better ratio and probably will separate himself from Ronaldo in goalscoring rate these next few years.

And it's nuts that in all this noise, Messi could might even be the best ever even if he hadn't scored a single goal

Ronaldo will hit a brick wall within 1-2 years, he is 34 now and is close to reach a 1000 matches, his body simply will
not be able to put up with regular playing much longer.

Messi on the other hand is much less reliable on his physical health to perform at a high level, even when he walk a whole match
he can still dictate and dominate the game.

He will always find a "new challenge " and crush that league. Next French league, then to challenge Paulinho to China.
