10 - Lionel Messi - V6

... he can't score a hattrick every time or even score every game.

And specially not when he actually plays as a midfielder.
I hope everyone could see that most often he was even behind Rakitic and Arthur.
As Dembele also came way back to the box very often, I would say the actual lineup was something like 4-5-1

Thought he had a great game last night and was unlucky not to score.

VAR obviously doesnt count when it comes to Ramos.

Has there ever been a player who's done more dirty shit to another than what Ramos has done to Messi over the years? Materazzi and Schevchenko comes to mind, but I don't even think that one is as bad.

terrible game by messi. a spade is a spade.
when an old overweight donkey like suarez looks more sharp than you on the pitch then something is wrong.

I hope it is just fatigue because we are not going to aim for a treble with the way messi played the last two games.

See the game before when he was unstoppable.

If anything this is BETTER that we can beat Madrid away twice without Messi being 100%... about time the rest of the team stepped up. We’re more likely to win the treble when other players can step up. BRING IT FUCKIN ON!!!!!!!

Do you understand the meaning of terrible? Messi had a good game. Besides all his clever passes, chances created, through balls, fouls gained and ability to hold the ball under pressure he actually defended well tonight as well. Actually why am I even arguing you're obviously a troll

Totally agree.

Messi having a relatively quiet game once again (for his insanely high standards) but the team nevertheless winning relatively convincingly is actually a great sign. At times I feel that the collective would be greater if his teammates were not looking to pass to Messi on a consistent basis. It can be double-edged sword. The more times Messi is in contact with the ball the more danger he usually creates but if he does not have a great day he is naturally limiting the output of other players who could have contributed better.

I would like to see a change in the CL where Messi, while being a key offensive factor, will receive the ball a bit less than usual. Something a bit like during the 2014-15 season where we had the MSN. It would require for Dembélé to step up a gear (he is slowly finding his form pre-injury) and be more decisive and daring individually as well as making runs between the defense as often as possible, Suárez's overall play and movement to resemble that of yesterday night and for the midfield (preferably Busquets, Arthur and Rakitic) to step up a notch which they are perfectly capable of. Alba will do his thing and we need an in-form Roberto on the RB or a much more offensively daring Semedo to stretch both sides of the pitch.

Giving the ball to Messi and looking for him in almost every offensive play makes us very predictable in the CL against elite teams who won't give up much space. That and Messi running a bit more without the ball in those 6 remaining high-profile games in the CL.

On Saturday, Messi was close to scoring 3 goals. If just one had found the net, everybody had praised his MOM performance (although MAtS and Piqué really did a great job on both Wed and Sat.).
What I'd like to see would be a highlight reeal of dirty RM attacks on Messi, in particular by Sergio Ramos, Carvajal and Kroos. They kicked him, bodychecked him and elbowed him in both games. Impressive how he keeps his calm. Also, their focus on Messi makes it a little easier for the other attackers to score.

Big game for Leo today

Just a warmup for the big one in nine days. Today's isn't that important for Leo because Juve have the title wrapped up and Ronaldo is pretty much out of the golden boot race

Ronaldo and Juve not playing well as of late. Big chance for Leo to pull away in the debate if he can recapture his early season form
